THQ Wireless has appointed Monkeystone Games to develop Red Faction for the new Nokia N-Gage mobile game deck. Red Faction will be the first first person shooter game on the Nokia N-Gage. The Red Faction game is set in mines run by the Ultor Corporation far beneath the surface of Mars. Parker leads a rebellion against the inhuman conditions being imposed by Ultor, while seeking to find the source of a mysterious and deadly plague which is sweeping through the mines. Red Faction takes place in the subterranean mines, in the high tech laboratories of the Ultor Corporation and in satellites orbiting above the planet Mars.

John Romero, Chief Technical Officer at Monkeystone states:

  • C&C Generals Deemed Offensive in Germany BBC News Online reports that German Family Affairs Ministry blacklisted Electronic Arts' Command & Conquer Generals game, on the charge that it glorifies violence. Devastation Multiplayer Demo Fix (2.7MB): ARUSH Entertainment sends along a small patch for the new multiplayer demo of Devastation, the imminent first-person shooter by Digitalo Studios. It's not a full patch but a performance fix that "addresses specific problems that may cause players to experience extreme frame rate loss and connection lags even when running a local LAN game.

New World Order Demo (160 MB): Project Three and Strategy First have released the demo to give you players a taste before the game’s release on March 25th. It 2 levels that will be available in single and multiplayer mode. The demo includes realistic features like breakable glass and windows, support for All Seeing Eye, more interactive gameplay (i.e – you can shoot out lights to keep the enemy in the dark), several tweaks to weapons and their damage, and overall increased player movement speed.

Blue's News Message Board has a post from Digitalo's Vic DeLeon talking about a couple of issues that for the recently announced Devastation multiplayer demo.

Digitalo is working on a patch which will address most of the technical, gameplay, and audio issues that have been reported in the Devastation MP Demo within the past eighteen hours. It's a little too soon to construct a valid ETA yet, but rest assured that the team is thoroughly committed to this, and will work as fast as they can to resolve as much as possible, as quickly as possible, for all versions of the game, demo and retail.

We appreciate all the feedback, and encourage you to continue posting your issues in the DevastationGame.com forums. Please make sure to be as specific as possible, and provide us with your system specs every time you post a bug.

The open beta will begin on April 7th and will run until May 9th. Players take on the role of Logan, a mercenary turned bounty hunter trying to make it rich in gloomy 22nd century Valkyria, where the wild elements of nature conflict with the technology of the future and no one suspects a silent assassin is on the prowl. According to Bluesnews, Ultimate Arena is where to sign up for the: America's Army Ultimate Arena Tournament that will take place at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) trade show in Los Angeles, which runs May 14-16, 2003. Qualifying tournament matches will take place from March 17th through April 25th. The championship match will occur on May 15th at the America's Army booth at E3 for a prize of $7,500 in cash and travel expenses.

Blizzard Entertainment has announced that they will be selecting 10,000 additional participants to facilitate the ongoing testing process of Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Those who signed up for the Beta Test will now have another chance to participate in and play-test the Beta as Blizzard proceed into the next phase of the testing process. These additional participants can expect to receive an e-mail confirming their participation in the next few days.

- Australian Raven Shield Ladder Started: Online Gamers had a chance to put their skills against the best in the land at the Australian Raven Shield championships that started yesterday. The championships are organized by Ubi Soft Australia and Telstra Game Arena. The tournament puts four teams against one another in an effort to find Australia's most skilled Raven Shield squad, using the multiplayer demo of Raven Shield. The qualifying team will be sent to Hong Kong to represent Australia in the Asia-Pacific championships in May 2003.

- Danish WCG Age of Mythology Preliminaries: WCG comes to Denmark and AoM is one of the games that is played. Gamers need to sign up for the events. There will be 4 major WCG events in Denmark. If you want to get to the finals, must play in at least 2 of the events. The events will be held in Aars (Jylland), 2x Næstved (Sjælland) and one in Odense (Fyn).

Retro Studios's Metroid Prime went away with the “Game of the Year” award at the Game Developers Choice Awards. The awards took place at this year's Game Developers Con. The developer also took the “Rookie of the Year” award and “Excellence in Level Design” award. Talk about some lovin for Metroid!
According to GameDaily, Electronic Arts Battlefield 1942 won an “Excellence in Game Design” award at the Academy of Interactive Arts of Sciences (AIAS). Other PC awards include:
