Katherine Anna Kang Interview
GamesIndustry.biz conducted an interview
with Katherine Anna Kang from Fountainhead Entertainment. There's talk
about Fountainhead and The Academy of Machinima Arts & Sciences. If
you weren’t aware of this, Anna Kang was well known in the Quake
community. She was even more known for working at id Software, and then
later for marrying John Carmack from id Softwars. But before then she
was known for being one of the ladies that competed in the first all-female
tournament. Her alias in the Quake days was Nabeo.
Mr. Robot News!
Moonpod
recently released their new independent PC game, Mr. Robot. Mr. Robot is
a 3D game, and it's inspired by games like Knight Lore and Alien8, and
mixed with 'Hack'. Featuring over 200 rooms, more than 20 different
enemies, 7 friendly robots to aid in your quest, numerous medals to
unlock and a built in editor so you can create your own adventures.

PlayerVox Launches
GuildCafe Entertainment has launched
PlayerVox, an online magazine shaped by the members of the GuildCafe
community and editorially overseen by experts in online gaming culture.

features remarks by Charlie Stross and Dragons from The Syndicate Guild.

WIGI Notes & Thoughts
I attended the Women In Games
International (WIGI) conference a couple of weeks ago and wrote some
notes while I was there. Here is some information about female
gamers, and a second article focuses on female
characters in the games.
Sins of a Solar Empire Beta
Sins of a Solar Empire Beta 1 is now
available, and includes a compatibility test that offers up sandbox
games as the Trader Emergency Coalition in single-player mode. Check the

Age of Empires III Patches
Ensemble
Studios recently released some patches for Age of Empires III and

Sword of the Stars Patch
Lighthouse Interactive has released a patch
version 1.2.2 for Sword of the Stars. This patch includes a bug
fixes, game tweaks and AI improvements.
STARGATE Public Beta
The public beta is now open for the
STARGATE Online Trading Card (TCG) game. The game immerses players in
the universe as they assemble their favorite characters into teams and
send them on missions throughout the galaxy. Sign up for the beta at the

WomenGamers.Com and National Computer Camp
recently announced news that they are offering scholarships valued at
$945 to two female students ages 8-18 for one week. Scholarship
applicants need to submit an essay in response to a question, which can

Will Wii be Competitive?

American launch of the Nintendo Wii. While many gamers immediately fell

Devil May Cry 4
Capcom has announced that Devil May Cry 4
is already in development for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Each
version of the game will be maximized to take advantage of the
systems’ strengths, leading to a breath-taking visual and gameplay

PQ2: Practical Intelligence
Quotient
D3Publisher has recently announced news
that Practical Intelligence Quotient is back with more mind bending
puzzles. PQ2: Practical Intelligence Quotient will be available
exclusively for the PSP some time this summer. PQ2 will help players
calculate their intelligence by using the PQ scoring system based on the
number of moves and the speed with which they complete more than 250
puzzles. PQ2 players will use the PSP system’s infrastructure mode to
take their score online to measure their brain power against their
friends, their country and even their gender.
Gaming Geography
Liefje, one of the sweetest lady gamers
you'll ever meet, has released an article on GameJunky.com entitled,
"Gaming
Geography". She asks if where you live affects how you play.
There was a lot of research done about our gaming culture and it
includes some nifty graphs on games with a list of certain countries.

Mahjongg Artifacts In Stores
Got Game Entertainment announced that “Mahjongg
Artifacts” has shipped to stores across North America. This
puzzle-based game for the PC is based on the classic tabletop game which
legend attributes to Confucius. Players experience three innovative game
modes, gorgeous backgrounds, and songs inspired by ancient cultures.
Dreamfall Chapters Announced
Funcom has announced that the Norwegian
Film Fund has awarded Funcom a grant which will partially finance
research and initial development of ‘Dreamfall Chapters’. Each new
installment of ‘Dreamfall Chapters’ will initially be delivered as
online-only content, but there may be retail releases with combined
chapters, both for console and PC, at a later stage. Funcom will not
release any additional information about ‘Dreamfall Chapters’ for

Phylon Closed Beta
In anticipation of the April 2007 release
of its first MMOFPS, Rapid Reality Studios has launched a closed beta
for Phylon. The beta will run on IGN’s Fileplanet from March 7-21,

World Cyber Games 2007
Details for the WCG
USA Championship Series have been announced. The list of games
include; Starcraft: Brood War (PC), WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne,
Counter-Strike, C&C3 Tiberium Wars, AOE3: The WarChiefs, FIFA Soccer
07, Need For Speed Carbon, Gears of War, Dead or Alive 4, and Project
Gotham Racing 3.
