World of Warcraft Updates
Also this week Blizzard released a major patch to the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft. It is now in version 1.4. The update adds new gameplay tweaks and options. There is a new PvP Honor System, a Children's Week event, a Gurubashi Arena Event, and an Elemental Invasion.

Additionally five new realms have just gone live and are now available to players. These give new players the opportunity to begin their adventures in Azeroth on 'untouched realms'. They also give existing players freedom to move from high-population realms into fresh, low-population realms new characters. World of Warcraft

This week Warner Brothers Interactive has given publisher Majesco video game rights to its popular animation series Teen Titans based on the adventures of teenage versions of DC comic superheroes. The games will allow players to switch between characters on the fly to take advantage of their unique super powers. [Flash Game]

Raze's Hell the third-person shooter for X-box is going to be hitting stores this week at the friendly price of $19.99. Raze's Hell is a kooky fantasy land inhabited by ugly monsters and a ruling race of cuddly creatures known as Kewletts. Today SOE the owner of MMO game EverQuest is planning to facilitate the buying and selling of virtual goods. The company has unveiled Station Exchange an auction site that allows players to spend real money on virtual weapons, armor, coins and new, high-level characters. The service isn't set to go live until the end of June, and will initially be just for EverQuest II game. [Follow the Money]

Project: Snowblind is receiving a new playable map via Xbox Live. Known as 'Repair Bay', the new level has multi-story hangars and administrative office space. Xbox Debut on MTV - Sunday 4/17/2005 by GeekWoman
Game consoles are traditionally unveiled at industry trade show events like the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). But Microsoft's next-gen console will make a debut on MTV. The half hour special will air on May 12 at 9:30 EST. Elijah Wood will host the event. There will be a behind the scenes look at the making of the console, and live performances by Los Angeles rock group The Killers.

Electronic Arts announced this week that it is developing a game to coincide with the theatrical release of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire . The title will allow three players to play together. This is the fifth Harry Potter videogame. The game is scheduled for a November release for the Xbox, PS2, PSP, GameCube, Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS, in conjunction with the film. Champions Return to ... 1998? - Thursday 4/14/2005 by GeekWoman
We've seen countless expansion packs and versions of this same tired old game since Diablo came out in 1998 for Mac and PlayStation 2. SOE last year released the highly anticipated PlayStation 2 action/adventure title, Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest, which drew gameplay from Interplay's Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series. The buzz words being 'of EverQuest'. Now it is 2005, eight years since the original Diablo on the Mac and three years since BG:DA. A year even has passed since Champions of Norrath, and that formula remains identical and nothing like EverQuest. Even if you skipped most of the other games that are carbon copies of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, you wouldn't notice the difference from one to the next. [Read My Rant]

Majesco - the creators of the BloodRayne series announced this week that they will be partnering with MTV to develop an Aeon Flux Game. The game release is scheduled to coincide with the movie which is slated to premier this fall. Gameplay is said to include a blend of stealth, speed and acrobatic combat. A video-game based on the series '24' is in development and the title will be a PS2 exclusive. The game will feature stars, producers and writers from the intense series. Kiefer Sutherland will star as Jack Bauer. Several others from the cast will do voicing. The game's plot will address questions left hanging at the end of series two. There will be 100 missions. Game-play will be based around shooting, sniping, problem solving, stealth, puzzles, and driving. Much of the TV show's team is involved including the music and script. [Full Details]
