Half-Life 2 Delay
- Posted by CaliGirl
Tue July 29
Valve originally mentioned that
Half-Life 2 would be released by the end of September. Vivendi
Universal has now announced that the game will be released at the end
of 2003. I don't know about you but I can't be too surprised
about this title being pushed back. It may be pushed back until late
2004 for all we know. Good games normally are pushed back a few
times... but when they get to a few years being pushed back, that's
when you know it may not be a success. The game name has been worn out
over and over again by then. The hype dies. I know that won't be the
case for Half-Life 2. In other related news, Valve released a
video called
Traptown.

No More Chasing Female Gamers? huh!

An article written by
Suneel Ratan at Wired entitled:
"Game
Makers Arent's Chasing Women"
I may be a little late reading into this
article but it had me quite surprised tonight. With the amount and hype
Wired.com has put into the women tournaments, and the female gamer
movement through out the years, this was an interesting change of view
article. There are things about how much women play puzzle games above
all other genre, even RPG. That has me pretty much spazzing out here as
I eat my chocolate pudding so late tonight. I know many many action and
strategy loving female gamers, I have only met a couple of puzzle
focused freaks, not to say that's a bad thing. I adored
Monkeystone's Congo Cube game.
It had me addicted when I beta tested it. Oh and Tetris has to be any
gamers old favorite game of all time.
There's one developer who focused on women
with a game called Purple Moon, which is said to be a big flop. I was
around playing games in the 90s, why didn't I ever hear of this game?
Maybe because it was a game done in PINK! Who knows. Overall, I have
seen more women in the isles of Walmart and Target than I have walking
into a game focused store like Electronic's boutique, Babbages and
Gamestop. Each time I have walked in there, guys look at me pretty funny
as if I am buying a game for someone else. When I talk about a game I am
into, and that I need a game guide for it, that's when I find out WHY
they looked at me so odd with there comments. I am not upset at all
about their desire to look at me oddly. I think its just funny they
havent been exposed enough to just RELAX! We arent going to bite, I
promise.

Focus
of the Month: Diffuze
What
does a 34 year old Swede who likes Bette Davis movies do to
kill time when she's not involved in a Linux project? Play Quake
3 Arena, of course. But you won't find Diffuze on European Quake
servers. She prefers fragging at Burial-Grounds in North America.
And, despite a transatlantic ping, she can definitely hang with
the locals. LadyGamers managed to catch Diffuze during a short
break from the action to get the inside scoop, the nitty-gritty
and the down and dirty on this Quaker from Gothenburg. Read
the interview with Diffuze now in our July Focus of the Month.
