Sky Bubbles (oops!)
- Tuesday 8/23/2005 by
CaliGirl
As many of you know, LadyGamers.com is focused on
action and strategy games. Today we thought we'd be rebelious by
mentioning a game not related to the genres. Alawar has sent news
about Sky Bubbles, a fun addicting puzzle type of game. If you look at
the screenshots
on the official site it may look like a Bejeweled clone. The gameplay
has some 3d kicks as you'll zoom around to different scenery
backgrounds. There are 2 main options for gameplay style; lines or
swap, plus an adventure mode that requires you to accomplish certain
things to level up. If you're wanting a chance in gameplay, the
demo is
worth a try.
MsQCon Finalists Battle
Backlash - Tuesday 8/23/2005 by
CaliGirl
There
have been quite a few male gamers that have been very negative about
female gamers being sponsored, and winning money in competitions.
Cursive from GGL happened to be a guy that hung around the
Quakecon tournament area to do coverage for GGL for the duration of
the event. His article entitled, "QuakeCon
Females Battle Backlash" has his point of view, and quotes a few
of the ladies on what they felt on the matter. Its a very nice read.
Its so great to see when guy gamers try to figure out why female
gamers want to compete. Here's a quote that makes so much sense by
Kornelia Tactacs:
“It lets them play in a safe and secure environment with other
girls and to see that it is possible for them to play
competitively,”
From what she says there, its like a way of building each girl's
confidence to compete in regular tournaments in the future. This
article has been added to
MsQcon 2005 Coverage.

Sin Episodes
Interview - Wednesday 8/10/2005 by
CaliGirl
Sinepisodes.net has conducted an
interview with some of the Ritual Entertainment crew. Here's an
excerpt:
Chris_D: Throughout SiN, Blade was the only playable character.
Will any parts of the game, or even whole episodes, be played out by
any of the other characters like JC or Jessica?
Steve Hessel: Having different playable characters is something
we’ve been talking about, especially since each of our characters
would have a very specific style of play. Blade usually tends to go
in guns blazing, while Jessica might prefer a more sneaky approach.
JC on the other hand is all about hacking and cyber-infiltration, so
that could make for some interesting gameplay situations as well.

Zoomed In - Monday 8/8/2005 by
CaliGirl
We
now have a legendary female player added to our Zoomed In feature
under Ladyhunt.
LadyGamers'
Zoomed In normally highlights how popular a female gamer is with
links to articles they are mentioned in, interviews, and much more.
Kornelia Takacs has competed since Quake 1, and has moved on to Quake
3 and Doom 3. Years ago I planned on having a Zoomed feature on
Kornelia but at the time she stopped competing in Quake 3.
At Quakecon 2004, Kornelia was featured at the Activision booth where
players tried to beat her at Doom 3. Rumor has it that we will see a
lot more of Kornelia competing in tournaments again. [Kornelia's
