Ikaruga is probably hands down the best space action shooter currently on the market. It's extremely fast paced, has a load of options for your customizing pleasure, extremely fun, will improve your hand eye coordination and it gets really, really, really hard after the 2nd mission.

A primary feature of the game is that you can swap between two different colors during combat, white and black. You can then absorb the corresponding projectiles of the color you've chosen and this in turn fills up a power gauge which allows you to unleash a super attack. A strategy that must be learned very soon is when to switch back and forth between the two colors using each to avoid being destroyed.
