Quakecon 2004
Journey - Sunday
Still Can't Sleep
You'd
think after all of these days I would have been able to conk
out for hours, huh? I don't know if it was becoming a habit of
not sleeping or what, but I couldn't sleep at all. I was
frustrated to no end. I desired to get up at least 8am so I
would get four hours of sleep, but I ended up getting up at
6am and laid in bed just thinking of so many things I needed
to do. I had plans to update the MsQcon site, contacting the
ladies about Aftermath interviews, updating LadyGamers.com
with information, sending out news to sites about the MsQcon
finalists, and so much more. I also didn't want to forget what
happened on this trip and I never wrote anything down. How
would I remember everything that happened at this year's
Quakecon for my typical event journey article? I did
everything you can think of to try to get at least two more
hours so I was capable of driving home safely. Counting sheep
or numbers, thinking of a beach/pool/animals/lakes and even
good old times at Quakecon this year. It only reminded me of
more things I wanted to do when I was home. Finally at 7:30am
I jumped out of bed like a torpedo and began throwing stuff in
my suitcase and bags. I figured if I sat there much longer I'd
be wasting more time; time I could be using to get my butt
home. Kata_Jade had already left at 5am to head back to
Georgia. What a long ride home for her.
Red Bull Saves Lives
If
I didn't have Red Bull I honestly don't think I would have
made it home alive. I have never been a fan of Red Bull until
now. It never worked for me in the past. However, I have been
told that in order to get the best effect of a Red Bull you
have to be extremely tired; when you're about to pass out.
This happened to be true in my case. It worked wonders. Each
can lasted about two hours. The other thing that kept me awake
during the drive was blasting Benjamin Gate, Filter and
Crystal Method CDs.
Oops Did I Forgetcha?!
Please
note that this journey article is done all from memory. I had
no time this year to write anything down so it was seemed
tougher than previous articles I have written. If you aren't
mentioned, please refresh my memory by
shooting me an email. It is not my intention to forget
you! I would love to be reminded of how I met you, and it
would be a shame to not have you listed! Thanks for the great
times everyone, this year was one of the best gaming events I
have been to in a very long time.
Shortcomings
There
really weren't many shortcomings at this event. This event
exceeded my expectations! Although I mentioned some
shortcomings through out the article, here are a few things
that come to mind:
Ash:
I desired
to talk to him more but you know he was always busy and I was
busy when he didn't look busy. Wish I could have talked to him
a bit more. :/ Sorry asharoo!
Shaithis:
I found
out later his flight was delayed so I missed out on seeing him
this year. I really am upset about this since he lives in New
York - I wont even be able to see him if I visit California.
:( Shai and I worked with each other at Gamespy.
T-Dawg:
I met him
either on Thursday or Friday and talked to him briefly but he
didn't recall shaking my hand. :( I feel so unloved, someone
give me a hug!
Scary:
I have met
him in person at least 2 times before I saw him this year, and
every time he doesn't recall meeting me. I think he blocks me
out because he doesn't like me. :( He must think I am a
lemming that falls off a ledge.. I just know it... *sigh*
[42]CrioKnight:
Crio my
boy, what was with that dude?! You take pictures of us girls
but you don't come up and say hi? I totally wanted to meet
you. :(
Tapper: He showed up twice during the event. I wish
he was there like old times. Hope you get better sweety!
Duffy: I was unable to really talk to hangout with
him much, other than a quick update on how things were going
with the Ms Quakecon on one of the days. Maybe next year
Robert!

Thanks to
my good buddy

some of my wacky Californian lingo, to make things
more understandable
to the outside reader.
You're the man Terence!
