Ms. Quakecon -  Ms.X's Match

Overview
I briefly introduced who I was to Ms.X about an hour or so after the Ms. Quakecon tournament started. She didn't seem to click who it was at the time. She probably thought I was another participant in the tournament. A bit later that day when I told her I would be her admin for her match, she said "Oh... CaliGirl, when you first said who you were I didn't hear you very well."  I laughed and told her it was ok. I have had many people tell me that I say my nickname name really fast. I felt honored to be the Spectator for her first match.

Ms.X Good Luck Charm
During every round Ms.X played, she always had her little Buddha guy sitting up on top of her monitor. I commented about it because I noticed it the first time during semi-finals. She smiled and said, "That's my buddha squishy". Ms.X could have easily been called Smiles from how sweet she is, even under pressure and hardly any hours of sleep. She has a very friendly personality, and is a delightful person to be around just from her smile.

Ms.X vs. Krystal
One thing I noticed early on with Ms.X was how she kept herself at a pace and never followed the same pattern from what I could tell. She knew exactly where to go if you ran ahead of her by going through a certain portal and bam, she was in yo face! Ms.X kept her eye on red armor, by timing herself to come back to pick it up, she also had a very impressive Rail during her match with Krystal.

Semi-finals: Ms.X vs. Suga
Things were going fine in the beginning with Ms.X match against Suga. However, by the 2nd match they both lost connection twice since there was a power outage in the BYOC area that happened to be running the server they were competing on. The scores for first game were 19 to -1 on pro-q3dm6, the last match was 19 to 1 on pro-q3tourney2 with Suga being defeated.

Prep and Practice In Between Matches
Before the Semi-finals started, Ms.X had some problems that made her feel uncomfortable from where she was sitting. First off, she was near the walkway so many people walking by would be movement she would see them through her peripheral view and could be a distraction. I asked Alienware if we could by any chance move the Nvidia sign to cover her area. After having that denied I told Ms.X that we would have a border of people on that side so she would have less distraction. The lighting was also bright for her since she normally plays in a dim room. Since Ms.X happened to stay up all night until 9am, and then get up at 11am, I can only imagine how bright those lights were. She looked like she was in zombie mode, and to be quite honest, she seemed to be playing like a robot, all from memory, not from actually being 100% alert during semi-finals.

At one point Sanctuary was so sweet by asking her if she wanted some bawls to help her wake up a little. Sanctuary brought back two bottles as Ms.X started chugging them to help her stay awake.

Another thing I noticed was how her hair was sticking up and looked all ruffed up in the back. I didn't want to go over and start brushing her hair because that would be even more embarrassing for her. I guess many people thought her headphones rubbed her hair a lot to make this static look like it hadn't been brushed.

The third issue was how Ms.X had open ear phones so she could hear everything around her. This was an issue that arose so L4mby and Byskwik did everything in their power to find someone who could help them keep the voice levels down once the finals began.

Another practice happened after the semi-finals were over. Missy wanted to help Ms.X from going to sleep so she jumped on the computer next to her and started playing her a bit.

Finals: Succubus vs. Ms.X
The first match was on pro-q3tourney4, which was requested by Ms.X. She won the first match at 7 frags with Succubus at 3 frags. During this time Buggles kept yelling for people to lower their voices but I don't think she knew that Ms.X could hear so clearly threw her headphones so I saw Ms.X jump in her seat when this happened. The other times Buggles yelled for people to lower their voices had her change her position in her seat so I could tell it was very loud for her to even hear.

When the second match came around, the noise level started getting a little better after the first 5 minutes since most people that were in the exhibit went downstairs to watch the tournament finals. Succubus came back with 10 frags, while Ms.X has 2 frags on the pro-q3tourney2 level. However, the was an instance where a Sweden (or French) guy who had a thick accent started yelling at Buggles when she again requested for people to lower their voices. He was very rude with his remarks, but the crowd around us put him in place.

After Ms.X was defeated in the second match, this same loud guy walked up to her and asked for a handshake while saying, "congratulations."   She told him she lost that round. He replied with, "Do you want a drink?," as he brought out some liquor he had in a paper bag.  Ms.X hesitated but since she lost the second match, she ended up taking a gulp of his drink. I don't think she knew he was the guy that was making so much noise in the crowd!

The third match was a tie breaker played on ztn3tourney1 level. Ms.X didn't do well on this map, but hey, she did have some alcohol! ;)  Succubus made sure she kept her Queen of Quake 3 crown with 11 frags, while Ms.X had 1 frag off of her.
