Game Figurinez Contest
```````````````````
LadyGamers is bringing pixel art exposure to some of the most popular game characters of all time. In this contest, co-sponsored by Vivendi Universal, Hypothermia, NVIDIA, id Software and Madcatz you'll create original clothing, accessories, hair and practically anything else you can imagine to dress up your favorite game characters.
Most people call these virtual dollz, and they're all over the internet. We're calling them figurinez because we're focusing on game characters. They aren't real plastic toys but easy to edit images you will create in pc paint programs. Think of it as an art contest where you dress up base figurinez as your favorite game characters.
Best of all, you don't have to be an accomplished artist to win. Anyone with a little practice can produce top quality Figurinez, just follow our Creation Guide below.
LadyGamers and our sponsors will award prizes to the best figurine creators on in the first week of October, with contest submission due by September 29th at Midnight 12pm PST. Prizes will include a $50.00 Gamestop Certificate, Quake III Arena tin with developer signatures, Siberia, No One Lives Forever Martini mixer with 2 glasses, No One Lives Forever 2 Posters, Nvidia Doom 3 t-shirts, Call of Duty Hats and Xbox Controllers (applies only if you have an Xbox).
Figurinez & Bases
Whether you design your own base, or use the templates listed in our base listing, please make sure you include if you have created the base (which will not change your score), or if it was created by someone else. The authors of these bases are normally very experienced and it can give you a head start if you are new to all of this. We highly recommend pixel art newbies to use the base listing, and follow the author's terms of agreement. [View Base Listing]
Rules
`````

Contest rules are designed to protect you, base figure creators and to simply make things go smoother.

  • Do not steal other people's art because we'll catch you and disqualify you. Don't engage in Frankendolling either, which means copying parts of someone else's body parts like eyes, ears, hands, etc. This is a pixel art contest, so all of the work should be genuinely yours. And, be sure to read the rules from the author's base sites. Sometimes they will permit you to alter certain things in the base to make your character unique.

  • The background of your figurine should be either white or transparent. If you have problems creating a transparent background, please ask for assistance in the discussion forums. Someone would be delighted to help you.

  • Figurine Groups are acceptable but no more than 3 figurinez per game character, please. We don't recommend doing crossovers with games unless it is the same developer who created the game. The game developers are listed in next to the game name in the characters section.

  • Animations are welcome. However, please keep them 2 or 3 frames only.

  • No drag and drop dolls are allowed. The art you create on the base template should be yours alone.

We will give you our most in-depth reasons why we feel your figurine is top notch. When it comes to the Reader's choice award, this will be done purely readers voting for your figurine.
