Tips
Yes we know you're wondering what to do when
it comes down to which character bases are best used and other information
about what you should do to get started. Are your hands shaking? If you
are checking out tips section, I bet you're a little nervous about pixel
art. Below you will find some tips to help you as much as we can to
help ease the nerves. All characters are in alphabetical order. If there
are any base names listed below, you can find them in our
base listing. There also may be some
tutorials mentioned.
-
Aida: Her snake alone may be difficult to duplicate if
you have a larger base you are using, but
it can be done. She can be created by using many different bases we
already have listed.
-
Anarki would be great on a male base that is tall and
slender.
Bases that stand out for him are
Doll Famous Bois and Swiss Cheese Army
Knife. If you want more mange styled bases, check out Phriday's Japanime and Angie Chan's Melody.
- Black Lotus
may be the most difficult of all characters
because we really don't know what her full body looks like, other than
her unit screenshot, and her face icon we have. We suggest trying to
think up what she looks like through a real life celebrity that looks
similar to her. You can't go that wrong!
- Cate Archer has three styles of uniforms. The patterned one,
a body suit and a solid dress with or without coat.
There is a patterned dress tutorial to help you learn to make her dress
pattern that we have in the tutorials section. If you have decided to
make her solid dress style, we have a short dress tutorial listed in the
same clothing area of the page.
- Crash
has always been the type of girl that every guy wants
to know what she looks like under that mask. We actually don't mind you
having her hold her helmet and having a real face for the contest. Maybe
you have an idea of what you feel she looks like, and feel like showing
us! Just as long as her body suit is
similar we're open to the idea. Accomplishing her face mask alone may be
a fun task though. She can be used on just about every base, possibly even the
tall slender ones. A base that
stands out is Captivation Dance.
- Dmitrij Volvok
can be used with most bases, even the cute
ones. Who wouldn't think a little guy with a patch is adorable?
- Doom
is a masked fellah and could probably be used with most muscular bases
like Heavenly Haven's New Base, Bardic Tales Dwarfin and Heavenly Haven.
- Havoc has a scar and a little green tint
on his face for camouflage. He would probably best on a more realistic
base.
- Hotwire has short hair and a cute cap with lots of extra
items in her uniform. She'd be great with most bases we have listed.
- Hunter
always had everything out there. She could be used
with anime, realistic and other cute bases. Bases that might
compliment her are Anaesthetic Alie,
Exotic Wildness Aurora, Startippers Various Styles, Moonpixed Naoko, Casandra, Captivation
Sing and Ghost Orchid Realistic.
That right there should give you a nice selection!
- Inge Wagner can be used with most of the bases we have listed
under the plump section. She is almost clown like, so there would be
some face touching to do. Keep that in mind to make sure the base author's
rulesallow you do to this. We also have a Pigtail tutorial(hair)
and a for Corsette Tops tutorial(clothing) listed.
- Jan Ors is decked out with lots of gear. This may be
difficult on small bases if you plan to create her. Possibly some bases like
Startippers Various Styles, Moonpixed
Naoko, or Ghost Orchid Realistic could help on
any details you desire to design for her.
- Jennifer's
Ferai Form may be a difficult figurine to create
from the evil mask and expression she has. Making sure you can totally
change a face of a base would be priority for this character. She has a
swirly type of face and body, but making the horns would be very
interesting to see the results of this masterpiece!
- Jennifer's Mortalis Form will probably be the
most common made
from her regular gothic look that stands out. As you can see above in our
contest logo, CaliGirl used the
United Dollz Nala Petit base to bring out the cuteness of Jennifer.
There's many bases that can be made with her expressions,
so explore the bases and find one that stands out to you! An
interesting one to use could be Captivation Oogle Base since the shape
of the crystal blue eyes are nice.
- Jennifer's
Undine Form is like a mermaid but she has feet.
Her ears almost have that jar jar hut style from Star Wars. The idea would be to make sure she has tealish colors that are sort of
scaly on her head and body. She has almost a reggae hairstyle going on. Most of Jennifer's tops are shiney
but there are some tutorials that show you how to make this effect through pixel
art.
- King Herne
should have a base that
is muscular built. One base we ran into is Bardic Tales' Dwarfin base
that resembles him a lot. Another base like Heavenly Haven's New Base
could also work.
- Kyle Katarn is a character that can be used with most bases.
Muscular for realistic, and you can probably get away with a manga styled
base. It's all what
your heart desires. Making a saber isn't a must but it does add
character for people to know who you made, right off. If you feel a
saber is too hard to make, try making just saber that's not turned on.
That can't hurt!
- Logan is one of the favorites among the
giggly gamer girls. He has a very nice round face with pretty brown
eyes. He'd be great with most base models, including anime styled ones.
Just keep in mind he has muscles rippling out.
- Lucy could be used on many of the bases we have listed under
the Plump section.
- Luke Skywalker is a legend of the Star Wars Universe. As you
will notice, he has darker hair in the game than in the movies. Making
him look like either is fine. Just keep in mind that our readers who
vote may be more keen to having it look like who he is, with just a few
glances.
- Magnus Armstrong
is a hefty guy that would be great on muscular bases like Bardic
Tales' Dwarfin and
Heavenly Havens to name a few. He's always gritting
his teeth so maybe a base that allows you to edit the face would be a
good idea.
- Major
is as serious as serious gets. If you want to give her
a better look, try making her hair not so flat so she can stand out.
Maybe adding the gun and a cute pose could also help here. Don't forget,
you can change the clothing a little, like colors and etc.
- Maus is an interesting service gal
from Renegade. She can be done from most
character models. Maybe even checking around online for real service
uniforms could do the trick.
- Mon Mothma
wears a dress, so if you don't know how to make a
good one, this may be a difficult character to create. You can check out
the tutorials section under clothing for ideas.
-
Mynx is much like hunter's shape in some ways, although her
bust seems more hefty. Possibly using the bases like
Exotic Wildness Aurora, Startippers
Various Styles, Casandra and Captivation Dance can help her stand
out. She'd be adorable with the cute bases as well.
- Petrova
is one gal that always stood out in Renegade. Her
blonde short hair, mole on her face, and style of clothing really has
that whole sexy professor style going. She could be created
with most bases we have listed.
- Professor Mobius is an oldie but goodie. He is thin so it
would be best to use slender if you want to make a realistic base. He
would be adorable with grey hair on most of the cute bases as well. His wrinkled face may
be a little challenging.
- Queen Aino
may be the most difficult of all the figurinez we
have listed. To help put your mind to ease on the fins, we have a
section under the bases for them. Don't forget about her fins on
her back and her face needs to be colored in. You may be able to
get passed the aged look by shading and adding wrinkles a little to
enhance the character. She does have scale skin like most fish do.
- Ranger
is one character no one could go wrong with. Who couldn't stop loving
this guy from Quake 1? Majority of the hefty muscular related characters
listed in our base directory would be great. Bases like Bardic Tales' Dwarfin and Heavenly
Havens stand out.
- Sakura is the most popular
villian from the Renegade game.
She's very tall and slender so if you want a realistic base, you should
find something on that order. She would be great on most of the bases if
you are desiring a cute look for her too.
-
Sarge could be used on most realistic based models.
Slender
yet muscular types. Don't forget his cigar!
- Scree
may be one of those types that may be difficult since we were unable to
find a base for him. A base that could be used if the skin color was
turned into stone is Bardic Tales' Gnomer, or Dhaling's Rory base.
There is one other site called Animated World that had a gargoyle with a
girl
leaning up against it. It almost looks like Scree but she doesn't
have a base for it, it was an accessory to the doll she created. She
specifically notes that the gargoyle is not for adoption.
If you are just creating a submission for a Jennifer Figurine, and want
to add Scree with her, you can try the Big Blue Eyes' Chocolate Elves
or Yume Bases (both listed under other bases) by changing him to stone
color and adding bat wings to him. We also have various wing tutorials
listed.
- Slash
has spiked hair and is always super energetic on her
skates. Most bases would be great for her. Although the ones we find fit
her are; 2 Pixels,
Angie Chan Cheries, Brilliancy Base Styles, Captivation
Pardon, Pixel Punks Slim, Captivation So Pretty, Hazy Jane's Lola (big
skater looking feet), Dhaling Tilly (another with big feet) and
Moonpixed Naoko.
- Stormtroopers happens to be a character we had to add in!
Using just about any of the bases would make any figurine unique since
it's all a body mask.
- Tanya should be an easy enough figurine to create. She has
pants a regular shirt and pants.
- Uriel has wings much like
Scree does, only they are a little
more edgy. Using the Bat tutorial would be helpful. He could be used on
many of the muscular styled bases we have listed.
- Xaero
has a type of extra layer hanging from him. Some people say he has a tail. There are some very
nice wing tutorials that show you how to make these type of trails on
the back of figurinez.
