BACKGROUND

Ryly's first game was Loderunner on the original Mac; she's a graphic artist so she naturally went for Mac games back in the day when Macs were the best computers for graphics. She also played Atari games like DigDug and arcade games Ms. PacMan, Galaga and Joust. She is proud to have earned the top score on the Sinistar machine college. Ryly also went through a short phase of addiction to Populous on her Amiga computer. She dabbled with Descent for a while and then her PC gamer husband talked her into trying Quake 2. Gradually, they both stepped up to Quake 3.

Ryly's biggest influence as a gamer is her husband ({DFM}Ic3-IX) who introduced her to multiplayer action games. The games in college were mostly role-playing, and she loved them so much that she was one of the organizers and a dungeon master for OwlCon and NanCon in Houston, Texas. But when she got her hands on a Rocket Launcher, RPG's got bumped for FPS games quick.

Ryly played mods like OSP, Excessive, CTF, and then came to enjoy the team play and strategy of Freeze Tag and UFreeze (UFT). Around the time of Quakecon 2003,  she became very active in UFT, and traveled to North Carolina for a UFT LAN in October 2003. She and hubby Ic3 also occasionally join a friend at a monthly LAN in Greenville, TX. Both Ryly and her husband have participated in a number of UFT tournaments online during the past year. And, they are both referees with AZFL - the Absolute Zero Freeze League - working withthe mod developers and admins.

DOOMED?

Asked whether or not she would give Doom 3 a try, she replied:

"Waiting for the Mac version!! And then my husband needs to
upgrade his wimpy system so he can play it on his PC.
