_____________________________________________________________INTERVIEW

[LadyGamers]:
QGirlz turns six years old this month. With the loss of Medusa many years ago, how did it affect the clan's moral back then? Were any of the others wanting to leave because she did? Do you know if Medusa still plays games on her free time nowadays?

[Trillian]:  I joined QGirlZ during the time when Medusa was becoming less and less active. It was a gradual process, so I think the impact on the moral of the clan was limited. It also came while QGirlZ was finishing the conversion over to Quake 2, so a lot of new faces were in the mix. For those of us who didn't know Medusa that well, it wasn't as difficult when she officially said goodbye. I can't recall if anyone left with Medusa. I think more than anything, those who left were leaving due to the change in games. As for where she is today, I wish I could tell you.

[LadyGamers]: It's nice to see a clan site being honest by showing their true active clanmates. With there only being five female QGirlz active, does this mean the clan is hard to get into?

[Trillian]: I suppose QGirlZ is hard to get into. We are very cautious of new faces. Because of how close the clan is, we want to be sure that everyone joining us can fit in well with the current crew. It's like a sisterhood. A family. Not everyone meshes well. But we have a wide variety of personalities among those five active members. And we have a lot of friends we would welcome back with open arms should they come back to gaming. We're also not opposed to new faces, I think they are just harder to come by in our current choice of games.

[LadyGamers]: You have attended a fair amount of tournaments in your time. Which event stands out to be the best of all of them and why?

[Trillian]: I think it would be impossible to pick a best. Different tournaments stand out for different reasons. I remember Ground Zero CPL in New York. We had a Quake 2 female tournament going on at the same time as the first Q3 Test tournament. Not that many people showed up, so much of the LAN was spent playing fun pickups between teams. And we had almost the entire QGirlZ team right there, plus many other familiar faces within the community. That one stands out as so much fun. And there was... was it Frag 4 that had the Quake 3 4v4 TDM? QGirlZ fielded a team there and we all had a great time together. I suppose a lot of my favorite events revolve around how many of my friends were able to make it and compete together. With the distance traveled, it gives a LAN an added bonus when your teammates can join in the fun.

[LadyGamers]: There has been a variety of rumors about the idea of Planetside destroying the Quake and HalfLife community once it hits shelves. What do you feel about these rumors? Do you feel it has some truth to it?

[Trillian]: Every new game that comes out has the potential to alter the community. Look at what Everquest did? I think Planetside will attract a lot of people within the current communities, especially due to the lack of activity as we wait for Doom 3 and Quake 4. But, Half- Life 2 is just around the corner. It's going to be tough for those of us who prefer the quick action of games like that. I mean, massive multi-player online games that require you to build up a character are great for a lot of people. I, personally, do not have the time to invest in something like that. I'd rather play a game where I can play for an hour and then be done. I don't feel compelled to keep trying to level up or get just a little closer to that next goal. I guess I find it easier to control my addiction in more traditional FPS games. :)

[LadyGamers]: To get a little more personal in your neck of the woods, what are the latest projects you'd like to talk about?

[Trillian]: I suppose the biggest project I'm involved in is TsN (Team Sportscast Network), providing audio coverage for online gaming tournaments. DeeAy is also casting with them right now. :) I am currently focusing on Quake 3 and RTCW, but am always looking for new and exciting games to catch my interest. Looking forward to Quakecon 2003 this summer. YUM!
