Clayton Darnell aka Yalc The name Clayton Darnell may have not been on the lips of every girl at Quakecon but there was the whisper of, "Who is that hot blonde guy over there Cali!?". His very cool presence, good looks and offering to help in every way he could for the Ms. Quakecon tournament allowed me to see he wasn't trying to boast, or show off. He was there for a purpose, to get these configs up on the network for these hardcore game girls who could not live without them. I honestly believe that Clay was my knight in shining armor, he saved me from stress and I owe him one for it. After I came back from Quakecon, I still heard a couple of whispers through IRC and even through email. Yes, he was cute but some of these gals wondered if he was single too, even if they weren't single themselves. I knew right then he would be perfect for our next Guywatch. That said, lets get to know our latest heartthrob! - CaliGirl _______________________________________________PROFILE
__________________________________________________________HIS GAME LIFE [LadyGamers]: If you look back on what allowed you to become a 'gamer' what was it? A nudge by your father or brother? Maybe it was just your love for Mario brothers or Sonic the Hedgehog? [Clay]: I had always loved playing console games as a kid. Up until I got my n64 that was mostly all I played. We had a few demo disks of games from Apogee/ID such as Commander Keen and the Wolfenstein 3D. But my dad mainly played those. I first really got in to the PC game realm on Heat.net with the complete goal of earning points to be able to buy new games. blah blah blah.. it all flew from there. [LadyGamers]: Ahh, old Heat.net. I remember the night we got in a heated argument about that Multiplayer service versus Mplayer. What do you feel was so much better about Heat.net vs Mplayer back in that day? Then again, why do you feel Heat.net was better than Kali or even T.E.N.? [Clay]: Heat.net was really all I used. I had Kali and Mplayer installed, and never tried TEN. But the community around Heat.net and the 10six project was a blast. And.. they gave me so much free stuff. [LadyGamers]: Speaking of Multiplayer Gaming Services, do you still feel the whole multiplayer service is valuable to the game community to this day? Do you use any services like Gamespy arcade? [Clay]: I don't use them any more now that most games have internal server browsers, but Gaming Services/Communities can be a good stepping stone for new gamers to get used to the community aspect around gaming. [LadyGamers]: When was the last time you were so addictive to a game, there were times you either forgot to eat and/or sleep you were so hooked? What game was it? [Clay]: World of Warcraft. I had to cancel my account this past week, mainly because my guild had all level'd pass me, and I found I was spending way to much time playing and not with family and friends. [LadyGamers]: Being a guy gamer, there has to be a time where you have read an article about a female gamer. How do you feel about girls who play games? Is it just another gamer to you or do you think there's something special about some game girls in the community? [Clay]: I think its great to see girl gamers, I wish there were more in the community. I see them as just another gamer, but then also as a female that I share something in common with and that's always a good thing. [LadyGamers]: How long have you been a Quakecon official? [Clay]: I have been attending since 1999, and in 2000 started out volunteering, and just helping out in all aspects, never been considered and official yet.. or am I?

LOVE LIFE [LadyGamers]: Speaking of Qcon, there were many girls that you saw who were gamers, and not booth babes. Was there any Female Gamers at Quakecon or in MsQuakecon tournament that you thought were your type? [Clay]: Yes, names will be refrained to protect myself. [LadyGamers]: Were you aware of girls noticing you at Quakecon? Come on... tell us the truth! [Clay]: Honestly, maybe one or two that had time to be flirty. But for the most part no, I'm an idiot when it comes to knowing what is going on. [LadyGamers]: Should I go on?! Did you get any kisses by any booth babes or game girls?! Don't give any names, you know all of the guys will beg kisses from them as well. [Clay]: I got a kiss on the cheek. ;) [LadyGamers]: How would you best describe your personality in less than thirty words? [Clay]: Outgoing, Fun, Comfortable, Laid back, aggressive in self improvement, hardworking, work-a-holic, devoted, affectionate, smart, honest, open, and lover of odd music [LadyGamers]: Now that you have described your personality, what type of personality shines in a woman that makes you attracted to her? [Clay]: Intelligent, comfortable, vast music tastes, not annoying or too clingy [LadyGamers]: Appearance is what normally attracts anyone first hand, even before personality. What do you prefer in a woman's looks? [Clay]: Bright eyes, Dark hair, Short, and over all just cute [LadyGamers]: Is there any celebrity that best describes your dream girl? [Clay]: ...eh [LadyGamers]: What is your idea of a romantic getaway? [Clay]: Colorado Springs ... weekend stay at The Broodmore. or Hawaii... thats the $$$ options, the not so $$$ getaways are weekend drive to Austin.. or Lake Texhoma area. [LadyGamers]: You mentioned that one of your hobbies was driving. Is this a leisure drive to a destination, or race car driving? Are you the trickster type to squeal around in circles to make the people in your car scream in horror or delight? [Clay]: Drifting, Autocross, Back Road Drives, some times just loop around Dallas one night with my favorite cd in. [LadyGamers]: To not give any girls too much hope to pursue you, would you say you're looking or are you currently waiting for a certain girl at this time? [Clay]: Waiting for one, but dating and meeting. _________________________________________________________________WHAT IF [LadyGamers]: Do you recall how it was without internet years ago? What do you see yourself doing if you didn't have any internet? As if it never came into existence. [Clay]: I don't remember what it was like because I have always had some kind of Internet access. Ever since I can remember we always had a computer. If Internet didn't, I would spend most my time in record stores, and car shops. __________________________________________________________________MORE Picture Gallery: Winter 2004 Chat:
