CC-Nate

Nate first started playing games through some friends he had working in a school district. Back then they would all work a bit, then during work hours a massive LAN party would explode through the oh-too-expensive networks. Nate is now currently known as the guy dedicated to OGL and Quakecon. He's very sweet, not just because he's a cutiepie, but from his mature attitude in the gaming community. He loves joking around so beware of his charming smile, it could mean he's up to something!

__________________________________________________________HIS GAME LIFE

[LadyGamers]:  What was the first FPS game you got into, and what was your first internet multiplayer game?

[Nate]: The first game was Quake 2. I played a touch of CTF to start with, until I  ran into what I consider one of the best mods ever: ACTION QUAKE 2!!!! I  got totally hooked with AQ2, and played it constantly. That's where I joined my first clan, and how I initially became involved in the OGL. Quake 2 really opened the doors to Quake 3, Half-Life, and everything else I've played along the way.

The first multiplayer game was Quake 2... I've NEVER gotten into single player games (except SOF2, just because I knew I wasn't good enough to play online!). Since then, I've been playing any MP game I can get my hands on.

[LadyGamers]: What brought you into the clan life? How long have you been with cowboys clan, was this your first clan?

[Nate]: Clan life started with {OZ} in Action Quake 2. I was with {OZ} for quite awhile, and loved the group. We weren't always that great, but the personalities matched perfectly. Good guys, like TheUrinator, WhaleDick, etc.

After I started working with OGL, I met a lot of the Carnage Cowboys crew. I made ties with them, and eventually was invited to join. I've been with them for a little over 6 months.

[LadyGamers]: Were you already into organizing other leagues/ladders before you were apart of OGL?

[Nate]: {OZ} was involved with the OGL, so I started my interactions through that. I met up with Jordan (Jube), spoke with her for awhile, and ended up being brought on to do Help Desk. After doing Help Desk for awhile, I moved onto  my own Unreal Tournament ladders. Moved back to Help Desk after that, and  took on Counter-Strike Open for a bit. I covered Counter-Strike East as well, before moving back to doing only Help Desk. I was promoted to Help Desk Coordinator (League Official). I'm still at that level, and enjoy the work.

I worked with Zay and Jaster when OGL decided to start doing its tournaments. I was a ref for the first few, before moving to Tournament Operations Manager for BoB2 and the QuakeCon 2003 Online Qualifiers. We'll see where the rest of it leads. I haven't been with any other leagues or ladders. I've been with OGL for over 2 years, and won't be bailing anytime soon.

[LadyGamers]: What was the hardest thing during your work at Quakecon 2003? The lack of being able to cruise around and mingle? or?

[Nate]:  When I got to Dallas on Monday, I had no idea what I had set myself up for. I got to the Adams Mark around 9. I worked that night as security for the vendor area (with a few other great volunteers!) and didn't end up  sleeping. I was up until around noon the next day, when I finally got around 4 hours of sleep. I worked Tuesday throughout the day, and into the night. That was my last 'party' night before the tournament. Wednesday I worked from 11am until noon on Thursday. I slept through a bit of that first round, but worked the rest of the night Thursday as well. This was my schedule for pretty much the rest of QuakeCon.

Normally this would be my place to complain, but ya know.. I can't. I loved the experience, I loved being around so many gamers, so many people that I knew I was helping (even indirectly) have a good time. The hardest thing.. yeah, not being able to mingle. I'm a social guy when I'm in new crowds, and I wish I could have met even more of the people around the event.. but, the work pays off. I loved the time I spent there, and really wish QuakeCon would run 365 days a year. Don't know how well my liver would take that, though.

________________________________________________________HIS  LOVE LIFE

[LadyGamers]:  How do you feel about women of talent such as an artist, game developer, singer and more? Is it something that's a necessity if you ever did start looking for a girlfriend?

[Nate]: I really don't make a distinction between men and women when it comes to talent. Every person has their own. I may not have any, but every other person does! I look for personality in every girl I meet.. Talent is a great plus, but what does it really tell you about the person?

I can only stand girls who have personality to them.. being able to sing doesn't mean you're going to be a caring, dedicated person. Being able to paint doesn't mean you won't break my heart the first chance you get. Now, meeting a female game developer on the other hand.. that I may give in for :-)

[LadyGamers]:  You seem like the type of guy who would become friends first before a relationship. Would you call yourself the shy or aggressive type when it comes to showing a girl you like her?

[Nate]: You guys really nailed me down, didn't ya? That's exactly what I do.. I want to get to know someone before working into something more. I'd say my level of aggressiveness changes as time goes on, mainly based on the ques I get from a girl. When I first meet you, I'm sweet and attentive.. I like to learn as much as I can about a person before deciding if I want to push this one, or just keep a good connection. Once I decide, I move. My decision is based mainly off what I receive from the other person.. is she trying to be near me.. is she trying to push things herself.. if she is and I dig her, I'm pretty damned aggressive. If not, I'll ease back and make a great new friend.

I make a strong goal to never burn any bridges I run into.. even if it means passing up someone I really WANT to keep that connection going.

Example.. I had a party last night, and one girl is laying in a bed right next to where I'm typing.. she's comfortable and I'm comfortable.. knowing we have a mutual friendship. She may be attractive, I may want to hop up in that bed right now, but she's a great friend.. there's no aggressive action on my part - I want to keep that connection.

[LadyGamers]:  Are you the type of person that enjoys your girl all natural with no piercing or tattoos anywhere? Describe the wildest you'd want your future girlfriend to be.

[Nate]:  Well, being from Iowa, I love my country farm girls. A natural girl with a huge set of.. lungs. My girls have to be able to step up to me on anything. Hrmmm.. while I'm sitting here typing out this response, I realized something new... If I'm going to be with a girl for a few weeks for some fun, I want a girl with a pierced navel, tongue, ears.. it's just sexy. Give me an all- natural girl with a few select piercings.. tongue, navel, ear, eyebrow (SEXY!), maybe a nose stud.. but past that, don't bring your 20 pounds of metal with ya. It all goes back to my raising.. all-natural. Implants may be cool, though... need to experiment with that still.

[LadyGamers]: Would you be embarrassed to date someone who could consistently beat you in games? How important is to you that the person you date understands and approves of your gaming related activities?

[Nate]: Being able to kick my ass in games isn't a problem. Hell, that may even cause for MORE fun. Being able to play a game against someone would be great.. but remember, I'm not at the age that that's socially acceptable to the hot girls of my generation. I'd love to be able to sit around and game with a girlfriend, but that just never happens for me. I'm dating the ditzy Valley girl who only knows how to sign onto AOL or MSN. I haven't even really divulged my gaming experiences to any girls I meet. I doubt any of my close girl friends know that I even dabble in gaming.

My male friends don't know much about it, either. I do my work in my free time, party hard with my friends, and keep up a shield between the two. Maybe someday, hopefully sooner than later, I'll be able to open that part of my life up.. but for now, it just won't fly. Sad, ain't it? Need to have more cyber-girls in Iowa :-)

[LadyGamers]: What's your idea of the perfect date? What is your dating age range?

[Nate]: First date.. oddly enough, the way I grew up, there weren't many dates. Most of it was parties, football games, group movies. I think this was better than dating one girl at a time.. instead you get to take a whole range and pick the best of the group (in your own eyes, anyway). I'd say the perfect date would be watching Monday Night Football while the chick makes pizza and keeps my beverage full.

Kidding - I'd like to go to a nice restaurant, have some great fun over dinner, move to a movie, get closer, and see where everything leads. That's been the most fun for me to this point, anyway.

Dating range.. I really like mature girls.. I can't stand the ditzy, "I put out because it's cool" type of girls. I'd say 18-22. That may be overstepping myself, but those mature girls are where it's at.

[LadyGamers]:  At least one well known gal gamer has posed for PlayBoy. Would you ever pose naked for PlayGirl? If not PlayGirl, would you consider being the next Quake Thong Guy for QC2K4, if we promised to stuff your thong full of bills?

[Nate]: Hrmm.. posing for PlayGirl may not work for me. :) I'm not SHY, but I don't know how great I'd feel about having my meat and two veg hangin out on newstands. Now, Quake Thong Guy with a promise of bills.. catch me on Saturday night when the liquor starts flowing, and we can talk in private :-)

[LadyGamers]: Are you shy about being LadyGamer's first ever Guy Watch beefcake? What do you wear to bed?

[Nate]: Shy? Nah. It's only girls, right? And, I'm safe and secure behind my little computer here at college.

Wear to bed.. boxers, only. Get in touch if you want it proven. :)
