[LadyGamers]: What year and game did BadGirls play in
their first tournament? Are there any memories you'd like to
share about it?
ANSWER:
[aNouC]: BadGirls started on March of 1998, and started
as a Q1 female team. It seemed a crazy and stupid idea for some people....
but started to work, to go on and to grow up in the next 5 years. :)
There are many things to explain about the clan and the members (old
and new). We had also good and bad times, like every clan. We had to
tryout girls with stupid questions to find out fakes... It could be
possible to write a book with tones of histories. :) Our first event was
in Spain, the biggest LAN we ever had there, and I remember two of us were
there, playing the Quake1 tournament.
[LadyGamers]: BadGirls began as an all female Spanish clan
playing Quake. What made you change your mind on spreading
throughout Europe? Did you find out that Spanish Girls aren't
as 'bad' as other girls through out the world? ;)
[aNouC]: Well the main reason I moved to Europe to check
what was going on there, was the situation in Spain. The Quake community
was very close and everybody was known there... and every single thing
that could happen to one or another, was like a big stuff to explain to
the rest... so all that gossiping, all that stuff, made the community
really boring. That's why I tried to find new opponents and know new
people. The thing that we were that close, was about our connections. But
with new infrastructures, like Cable, ADSL, etc... for me, was my
salvation. I pushed my 56k modem away, and took the most powerful
connection. Anyway, Spanish Girls weren't bad. We just were a few girls
playing every single day... and so once I was asked to join SK, I took
with me, one of the best players I know who is also from Spain, SayakA.
[LadyGamers]: Your clan has three channels spread
through out three different gaming related servers on IRC. Who
brought you to the wonderful world of IRC world? What was it
like to be so new to that chat program?
[aNouC]: Well, before starting in the gaming world, I was
part of the iRCop Team in a Spanish network. I've been working for an
important ISP and so I was used to IRC. Once I started with gaming, I was
quite experienced using that program, so I didn't have big problems. I was
in charge of the old Spanish bot system, and so I was used to check
commands and work with it. When I decided to create BadGirls channels in
other Networks I just had to take a look at what kind of system were they
using, and create it. :P
Btw our channels are:
#BadGirlsClan in Quakenet (irc.barrysworld.com)
#BadGirls in Gamesnet (irc.gamesnet.com)
#BadGirls in ETG (irc.enterthegame.com)
[LadyGamers]: I personally have tried to visit the BadGirls
clan forum various times the past 3-6 months. Is there a
reason why it's all in German?
[aNouC]: Yes, our Forum sponsor was from Germany and they
promised to translate the forums, but that never happened since we have it
up :( Anyways right now doesn't matter cos our Bad Girls 3.0 Version page
its going to die, and a new and better one will born soon... so I'm really
sorry if the one we have right now, stays inactive some more time. We hope
you all like the new one :)
[LadyGamers]: You seem to know English and German
very well. German is a language I have always wanted to learn.
How long have you known other languages besides Spanish?
[aNouC]: At school I always had really bad grades in English.
It was like Math, impossible to get it, impossible to write it and even
more difficult to talk it... Thanks to gaming and that I really needed
English to talk to everybody in the different Networks, I've been
improving the language day by day. Thanks to that I got my 1st Certificate
paper and also can study English Philology in University.
About German, it is a language I love, as well as really difficult,
and it takes more time than English to learn it. I study at University
what we call "Germany Philology" and then you can add a second language,
so once you finish the first, you can take 2 more years and have the other
one (in my case, English). I talk at home Catalan, which is another
language in Spain, only talked in Catalonia (Barcelona for example). And
thanks to that, I'm able to understand Italian, Portuguese and French
quite fine, cos Catalan is like a mix of them.
