_____________________________________________________________INTERVIEW
[LadyGamers]: You are apart of PXR's Medal of Honor and
Battlefield 1942 squads. Both games are pretty
hardcore, especially BF1942. Please explain your
action genre background. How did you get into these
type of games. What led you to compete in clan
matches?
[RayRay]:
I still consider myself a newbie to online gaming. I think it would be
almost two years that I started playing computer games. Well I first
started playing Quake II - Weapons Factory Mod online and from then on I
was pretty much hooked. I then started playing Tribes 2. That's when I
became part of the Royal Dragoons (RDS) Siege Clan and where they
basically took me on and taught me everything I know now (Thanks
Silvers_Revenge and Crew :D ) I competed with them in T2.
When I became a PxR Member, I wanted to be a part of their other
squads as well, BF42 and Mohaa. It was so much different than T2, but
after ALOT of practice, I began to enjoy it. Also since my husband was
playing them I had a chance to watch him play and get a feel for it
myself. He's basically been the driving force behind my online gaming.
Probably so he could get more playing time in. [LOL] Competition is so
much different than just pubbing, but its taught me to be more of a team
player. I enjoy competing with my PxR peeps.
[LadyGamers]: PhoenixRage by far has a very informative clan
website. Some clans update their site once a year and
are still active, even if it wouldn't seem they are.
What do you feel about clans who don't keep active
content on their websites? Does it show the clan has
little or no interest for any outsiders visiting their
site?
[RayRay]:
Well being a web designer myself, I know how important keeping
website content up-to-date weekly, bimonthly, and even
monthly. Keeping information updated brings people wanting to
come back to read more, to see what's new, and most
importantly to show that Phoenixrage is still an active clan,
competing in the various leagues and ladders out there. It
would be a shame if a clan didn't update their content,
especially when you have so many potential recruits as Phoenix
Rage does. For PxR, the site is a way of communication between
PxR Members and recruits - a way to get to know each other via
our forums and also our IRC chat room. You would be doing the
clan an disservice if you didn't keep it up-to-date.
[LadyGamers]: What attracted you to join the Phoenix Rage clan?
Was it the robust game guys, skilled players, or
something else?
[RayRay]: Hahaha, Well hmmmm. I used
to hate it when my husband, PxR|Knglou would be on for hours,
so yes I know what most wives and girlfriends have gone
through. At the time, he was in PxR, I was with RDS, and we'd
have conversations about the silly things going on with PxR,
so I introduced myself on their forums and they were so warm
and inviting, I felt like I was already part of the clan. When
I decided to move on from RDS, I wanted to be a part of PxR
because they are a friendly, welcoming bunch. That's the kind
of people I wanted to play with. People who knew how to have
fun but also people that would treat me with respect and take
me as a serious girl gamer. It also brought PxR|Knglou and
myself closer together because we have much more in common
now. I guess if you cant beat 'em, join 'em ;)
[LadyGamers]: Can you talk a little about what happened when you
joined the clan? Was there a type of celebration? How
were you treated by your new clan mates and other
gamers who found out about your exciting news?
[RayRay]: Well PxR, has a recruiting
procedure that I had to go through. First they wanted to get
to know me more so I just hung out in the irc chat room and
made posts on the forums when I could. Two sponsors then later
sponsored me and about a month and a half later, I became a
full member.
Our initiations are pretty well-thought out and secret....but
it was very exciting. My initiation was very special to me
because I was the last member to get initiated into the clan
under our Tribes 2 squad...so that made it even
more special. Of course my husband was happy for me and it
gives us alot more to talk about. :) PxR is definitely a class
act, hard to find such great
camaraderie in a clan these days. I am fortunate to be a part
of PxR. PxR|Backstabber said it perfectly when he said "I'd
rather spend a lifetime getting my a$$ kicked with friends,
than a single day winning with a$$holes"
[LadyGamers]: It seems that you have fell into the same trap as
myself concerning Orlando Bloom and the Lord of the
Rings series. Orlando's Elf character can really make
a girl weak in the knees. What did you think when you
found out he really wasn't a handsome blue eyed,
blonde guy? Did you feel he was just as attractive
having brown hair with brown eyes?
[RayRay]: Well my best friend got
me into the roleplaying game genre and introduced me to the Lord of the
Ring books and such, so when I went to watch the movie, I instantly fell
in love with Orlando's Character. There's nothing more that turns a girl
on than a guy that knows how to handle his bow and arrow. [LOL] I
thought many times how I'd look with pointy ears. Oh yes, he's just as, if
not more attractive with his brown hair and brown eyes, but it was his
sexy British accent that got me hooked. *wink*
