About warped
Real Name: Jared Pryor
Birthday: 10/2/80
Location: South Bay Area
Previous Nicks: Jar-Head, DeathBringer and Stryfe all in my first few months...been using 'warped' for about 7 years now
Title: Clan Leader

Fav and Worst Movies: On the good side we have Terminator 2, The Matrix, Shaolin Soccer, From Beijing with love, Donnie Darko. On the bad side - I had the misfortune of seeing 'Bats' in the theater.
Fav and Worst Games: Still got love for Quake 1 though its pretty impossible to play anymore.Q3 still tops my list of fav games. Until recently I used to despise all MMORPG's, but I dig SWG. I Hate Quake 2 for the simple reason that while it was an exceptional game, it was NOT quake.
Fav and Worst Foods: Typical gamer cuisine - Pizza, burritos, mcdonalds < *. Most seafood is disgusting and I can't stand fish, ugh. Any time fish is cooked the smell stains the house, how can people eat that stuff?

[LadyGamers]:
Tell us about your clan. How long have you been around, and how did the clan form?

[warped]: Inter Frag has about 6 months under its belt, give or take. Broken (bozo) and I are both former leaders in Clan Nails that has been around for many years. After dealing with some inactivity issues we decided to take our leave in search of greener pastures. The idea was to use 3 of the Nails starters and form a new squad as soon as Triad got back online. Nomadic just happened to be a free agent at the time(coincidence? I think not - DESTINY!) so we approached him and being a warpedo fanboy, he was eager to begin the cahooting. Triad stayed offline longer than expected and we were anxious to get started so Nomadic talked to one of his former clan members from Phoenix, Ripped. Ripped brought his brother SS/Wheela along to pad the roster a bit. Nomadic also brought some CPMA'er along named Jezza. After a while we let in a mutual friend, fusion. Triad got back online, Jezza went AFK, and Stratcat - the last remaining of the Nails.white crew - joined up. Most recently SS and fusion are pretty much inactive so we recruited Styles as he and Uprising parted ways.

[LadyGamers]: Do you think RA3 should be an official tourney at QuakeCon? What makes it qualified to deserve that kind of attention? Will you be attending Quakecon 2004 even if RA3 doesn't make it into the events schedule next year? Would you compete in another mod in 2004 if that happens?

[warped]: I would be happy if RA3 went a little more mainstream in terms of Professional Gaming. The fact is, however, that this mod is percieved as a shallow version of a game that is watered-down to begin with (q3). I myself despised RA3 for a long time until the pro-maps came out and it was apparent that confrontation was no longer the primary objective of 1v1. It was a relay race and timing competition, only engage the enemy if he is trying to get your megahealth or armor - and then only shoot a rail or two but keep hidden. Frankly RA3 quickly became the lesser of two evils but I grew to love it. I think it should be appreciated for its pure fighting style, no whacky side-objective hijinks. The despised simplicity is the very key to its popularity. You can focus solely on dispatching your opponent. So, yes, I think although RA3 attracts alot 'lesser-skilled' players with its more even playing ground, it still has a skill gap present that should be taken a little more seriously. As for QCon, the only way I see myself going to one of those is if I somehow win a paid trip. I wouldn't mind competing in OSP TDM or RA3 but Texas is much to far just for a weekend of lanning. I would rather save on travel expenses and throw a killer, much more personal lan closer to home(which I often do).

[LadyGamers]: How has your clan been preparing for upcoming CAL matches? Do you have a set schedule of practices or just get on when you see others?

[warped]: Basically, we scrim pretty much nightly in place of pubbing. It's easy to hop into a server and get your rocks off, but if you take a second to look there are generally a few clans that can throw together a scrim so you can practice meeting, working on that double-lg'ing, coordinating flankage, etc. We'll usually scrim with Ventrilo running so we can get used to adjusting tactics and coordinating attacks. Of course there is alot of goofing off going on, but that is more along the lines of learning your limits rather than alleviating boredom. We'll try to figure out who we are going to field in important matches ahead of time, and get them to scrim as much as possible. We also try not to switch up teams in between games as sometimes that can be the kiss of death.

[LadyGamers]: Of all the RA3 focused clans out there what was it about the one you joined that attracted you the most?

[warped]: I was familiar with playing styles and attitudes and liked the dynamic. I was as anxious to play WITH nomadic as I was to make sure nobody else got him. Also, I knew if i could assemble a great team it could raise the currently dwindling level of competition and perhaps keep more people interested.

[LadyGamers]:  Do you think your clan has a chance of being the champion of your division in the CAL finals? If not, who do you think will be?

[warped]: I think we have a really good chance having defeated Uprising whom many(including myself) would consider our greatest competition. sT could proove to be alot tougher than most expect, they are as of yet undefeated in CAL Season 2. Of the teams left I think NiTE would be the most likely to take us out. although they made it into the playoffs with a little bit of luck from teams dropping, they are the returning champions and know what to expect.

````````````````````````````````````````
[LadyGamers]: Are there female players in your clan? If not, why not? Do they participate in CAL and the playoffs?
[warped]: Heh, no there aren't any females that I know of. I've met alot of the members in real life and have confirmed gender for most of them. Ripped is still on the undecided list. Given his infatuation with Hotsail0rs and Barbara Streisand I'm inclined to believe hes either an Interior Decorator, or a WOMAN, BABY (yeah). K, Austin Powers impressions don't go over well in text. Being female wouldn't have any bearing on whether a member is allowed to compete in high profile matches since we recruit based on skill, not novelty. However, that's not to say we can't be bought!
````````````````````````````````````````

[LadyGamers]: Have you ever fallen down in public?

[warped]: Not that I can remember, but given my clumsiness I've probably repressed many embarrassing memories. Sadly, the exquisite grace that I practice does not extend past the virtual world - even my rolling computer chair has become hazardous. I should be wearing a helmet. :(
