Q3 v.1 Clanmate Extraction - Huntoze Background

Huntoze (aka huntz) started playing Doom Deathmatch while using LAN at his employer's office. As soon as Quake 1 came along his life sort of ended. He played Quake 1 online with a 56k modem and wasn't in any clan back then. He did however frag it with the big guys when he would jump on DM servers to play against the top Australia players. This was back in the day when Reload was making a big name for himself both in Australia and was known in other countries, including America.

Huntoze states:

"I wasn't anywhere near his standard, actually I wasn't much of a dueler at all. Mainly stuck to DM. But I used to watch all the Reload demos cause he was simply amazing to watch."

He checked out Quake 2 but it didn't have the fast paced action of the original game so he continued to play Quake1 until Quake 3 was released. Huntoze felt Quake3 was a great compromise between 1 and 2 so he really dug into it. Not long after his love for Quake 3, Huntzone was invited to join Total Control and has been dedicated to the clan for nearly 3 years now.

Huntoze states:

"I've been with the clan ever since. We've had a number of members come and go but we have a core group of players now who are all great friends and meet up regularly for fishing trips at my house. We're all aged between 27 to 32. We're probably one of the oldest clans in Australia now."

Total Control originally started as a Team Deathmarch clan. Now that TDM isn't as popular in Australia, the clan started playing CTF. Huntzone runs the CTF league in Australia. He mentioned some further information on the OZ Quake3 CTF League:

"OZ Quake3 CTF League is a competition sponsored by OGN Oceanic Gaming League run by one of the biggest ISP's in Australia, Netspace. They provide us with the competition servers, webspace etc. It's now in it's 6th Season with 22 clans playing in 3 divisions. Total Control is currently competing in Division 1 after winning Division 2 in Season 5. We're competing against the best CTF clans in Australia which includes FBB (FemmeBots + Boyfriends) who Python, (one of the best Q3 players in the world) plays for."
