[LadyGamers]:   First off, can you give us your background on how you got into Quake III Arena? Who is your biggest influence when it comes to gaming?

[Krissy]:  I first got into Quake 2 when my dad introduced me to the game 4 years ago. He started playing it and I would watch him, hoping that I would get a chance to have a turn.

Then, when I got my own computer, I would play Quake II non-stop after school because it was just something new and fun. Then, we stopped at a computer store and got Quake III when it came out. Shortly after, I would join servers and meet new people. That's when I got into clans and realized that this was something that I could be doing for a while. My biggest influence in gaming would have to be my boyfriend, Daryl (aka renegade). We actually met on a Quake III server when we were newbies and have been playing together ever since!

[LadyGamers]:   There will be an amount of attention girls will receive at Quakecon, especially the female gamers. Do you feel there may be some additional pressure from hundreds of gawking eyes the guys will have while all of you girls play in the tournament?

[Krissy]:  Well, I have been to 5 gaming events in the past and honestly, it wouldn't be anything new for me. At QuakeCon last year, when guys noticed that I had a girl name, they were curious to see if I was actually telling the truth. They would search around for me. lol. When they finally realized that I was a girl kicking their bootie, they would sit there and watch me play. I'm pretty used to it. So girls, watch out for those guys! They'll seriously stalk you. lol. But as far as additional pressure, I'm sure most of the girls can agree when I say there might be a little with spectators during the tournament. But I'm not going to let it get to me, I'm just going to get out there and have fun!

[LadyGamers]:  You happen to live near where the event will be held. What are the top 5 places you would recommend as a good place to eat near Quakecon? Is there also any cheap places for us gamers who happen to be on a tight budget?

[Krissy]: That's a really good question. Where the event is going to be held, there are many odd and end places that are at the "West End" in Dallas. There are also many clubs, of course. But as far as top 5 places to eat, there are so many around there! You can basically walk around (you don't want to leave the parking lot and pay around $6 again and again!) and find what you and your friends would like to eat. There is Fridays, Subway, and Spaghetti Warehouse...those are my favorites!

If you're on a low budget, good luck trying to find something cheap. But here's a little suggestion... maybe go out with friends to a pizza place and split the cost. :) That always helps me out when I'm trying to save some money.

[LadyGamers]:  As the days grow closer to this Friday, when you'll be competing in the Miss Quakecon tournament, have you had time to practice even more?

[Krissy]:  Actually, I haven't been practicing like I should be doing. As the days get closer to Qcon, I find myself being busier than ever! So really, I haven't had enough time to practice like I should. But, I'm not too worried... I am just going to play the best I can and have fun meeting new people and girls that have my same interests!
