However, Half Life 2....*drool* I can't wait for that wonderful day in September. =) Movies: Lord of the Rings, ALL OF THEM! Gladiator, Searching for Bobby Fisher, Patch Adams, Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail, A Beautiful Mind, Pirates of the Carribbean...I could go on for days...=) Celebrities: ORLANDO BLOOM! (2 words, HOT ELF!) Viggo Mortensen, Johnny Depp, Ian McKellan...omg, I could go on for days here too, so I'll just stop and say all the LotR actors...=) Favorite Flower: Hrmm...very hard. I like all flowers that are given to me *hint hint* =) However, if I _have_ to choose...I'd say purple roses or lilies are really pretty too. [L4mby]: Ah yes. I figured this question would come up. As far as being lead, I'm not completely lead per se. Byskwik has done most of the work up to this point. I will be taking over while at QuakeCon because she will be extremely busy doing other stuff. So props to her for all her hard work. As far as participating in tournaments goes, yes I have. However, not to this extent. Being that I am from Nebraska, everything here is small. The largest LAN I've been to was with around 120 people, which I helped organize, setup, do stuff for, etc. So the tournaments I've been are much smaller than the tournaments at QuakeCon will be. Not as much up for grabs and not as competative. Since I have had prior experience w/ helping out w/ LANs, doing smaller tourneys and I've been to SO many LANs in my short LAN lived life, I seemed to be the right person per se for this job. As far as why QuakeCon goes...I'll tell you why. This will be my 1st year going to QC, and I'm extremely excited. I got in the IRC channel a couple months ago and started to get to know people since I'd be going by myself. This is where I met Bys (Byskwik), an awesome chick to say the least. Talk had come up in the forums about last years Ms. QuakeCon disaster and how nobody wanted it to end up like that again this year. Long story short, it turned into a beauty pageant full of girls that weren't even gaming. Bys messaged me asking me if I, along w/ other girls, would like to get together and put a tournament together that actually had to do w/ Quake. I agreed, as did all the other girls asked. So that's where it started. We've gotten a lot done considering this was put together last minute. And we're all excited to see the outcome. [LadyGamers]: With criticism never really out weighing the excitement of many gamers about this all-female tournament, how much positive feedback have you received? I know when I heard that it wasn't going to be about looks, but about one of my favorite games, I was ecstatic about the concept. [L4mby]: Indeed. All the girls absolutely loved the idea. We've had awesome feedback from the actual QC staff as well. They love it and have helped us out a ton as far as getting this thing off the ground goes. Must thank them for all of their help. However, along w/ the positive feedback, there will always be negative feedback. A lot of the people don't understand why we're doing this. They think it's being sexist and just separating the males from the females. I must assure you, this is not the case at all. A lot of people also think it's 'unfair'. We don't think so. There's lots of other tournaments they could be whining about, such as the 'senior only' tourney, or the 'invite only' tournies, but why they choose to pick on this one, no one will ever really know. We have several valid reasons for holding this tourney. 1. We don't want it to end up as another beauty contest. I was not there to witness this sad contest, but I've only heard really bad things about it. 2. This gives all the chicks that are going to be at QC, which is very few, the chance to get to know more people just like themselves. It's hard to find other gamer chicks in this predominantly male gamer community. It is also hard for a minority such as ourselves to fit into the majority. Most of the time, most of us just get gawked at. I don't expect any guy to understand what it's like for a gamer chick, but I will tell you this, it's hard. I know I was the only female going to LANs here in this area for almost 2 years. Talk about feeling out of place. This tourney will give all the chicks a chance to meet each other, play against each other in a friendly environment, frag and ultimately have fun. Isn't that what LANs are supposed to be about in the 1st place? [LadyGamers]: You're a gamer but you have a mysterious history of being a DJ! How long have you been in the music field? What caused you to mingle among the gaming scene? [L4mby]: Haha...ah yes. I'm on online internet DJ for Clan Match Radio. if you'd like to check us out. I've been a DJ there since about June, so I'm fairly new. I've had a lot of fun w/ it. I've always loved music. Always will. It's a part of me. I've been in band since 5th grade, ending up playing bass clarinet. So I've always had a background in music. If you didn't already know, CMR is a radio station geared towards the gaming community. So it just sorta, fits I s'pose. I've been in the gaming community since around December 2000. This is when I went to my 1st LAN. It was a smaller one, held by some guys I went to high school w/. As a joke a couple weeks earlier, they started Nerd Club and were passing a paper around in AP Biology. Not much thinking about it, I signed my name on the paper, and wallah, I was asked to go to my 1st LAN. It sounded rather fascinating, intriguing and fun, so I decided to go. I LOVED it. Been gaming ever since. And as far as DJing goes, I'm on hiatus right now. I was in a pretty bad car accident on Saturday and I've been busy w/ Ms. QuakeCon stuff, so I've decided to take a break. Don't worry, I'm fine, and no, I'm not missing QC b/c of anything. =) Not sure as to when I'll be back on air again, but I'll be sure to let you all know if you'd like. =) [LadyGamers]: You fell into the same trap as most of us girls about Orlando Bloom in Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean. If you had to pick his elfish ways and the pirate version of Orlando, which would it be? Would you go for the daring yet charming blonde elf with blue eyes or swoon over the adventurous pirate with brown hair and brown eyes? No you have to pick one! I know I can't but that doesn't count here! [L4mby]: ROFL!!! I WANT BOTH! =P But in all seriousness, I'm gonna have to go w/ Legolas on this one. Mostly because I'm a HUGE LotR fan. I'm big into fantasy stories, and J.R.R. Tolkien is the man! Fell in love w/ the books, and I'm extremely excited about RotK in December. Ok, so I'm weird, but I can't help it! [LadyGamers]: Do you have anything else you would like to say about Quakecon? [L4mby]: As the closer QC draws near, the more excited I get. I can't wait to go and meet all of these awesome people I have been talking to online for the past couple months. I'm extremely ecstatic to meet all the chicks as well. All of them are awesome and have been great to me. And w/ that, I'd like to thank bys for everything she's done for me. It really meant a lot to me when she called me the day after my car accident as well. She's part of the reason I'm where I'm at in the community of wonderful people. I haven't been to QC yet, but I already feel like I'm a part of the family. So all in all, thanks for everything. I'd also like to thank all the other girls that are helping w/ the Ms. QuakeCon tournament. Vix, beta, amerz, PreciousDeath, you girls are awesome. Couldn't do it w/o you girls. This will definitely, by far, be the most fun tournament I've ever dealt w/ and I'm looking forward to it. Also looking forward to meeting all of you. =)
