My alarm clock and I aren't getting on. At
least when I saw it last as it flew through the bedroom window
and out into the street we weren't. Having had many a bleary
Saturday morning saved by my long standing and reliable metal
friend I was understandably a little disappointed when the
first time it decided to let me down and not go off was the
last night of testing for Zoid`s
Quake 3 Arena CTF maps.... In
retrospect it was probably a little harsh to dump the poor
thing into the middle of Cotham Hill cos it's bound to be
nothing more than a pile of scrap by now, flattened by some
articulate lorry trying to cut through and avoid the jams on
the main road, and the idea that I might actually be of some
use getting up at 5am to play on some server in west Canada is
a bit far fetched, but then such is life.
My alarm clock is no more.

Zoid`s CTF
maps, however, are complete, and will be released in the next
couple of days. As I'm late for work and shattered now I don't
really have time to say anything in depth about them, so I'll
hopefully remedy that situation tonight. I'm not aloud to
release screenies either, but hopefully that will change today
too, or some will emerge somewhere. But in short, they're
huge, well designed, clean and well clipped to stay reasonably
pretty without making it impossible to move without getting
caught on sommit sticking out of a wall somewhere while on
your flag run. Multiple entrances and exits, layered in
different styles in each map. One up one down in one for
instance or parallel and split in another. No BFG thankfully,
and each weapon and power up included has been placed
specifically to keep the action moving at all times.
But enough, I'll update with sommit meaningful
tonight if the maps aren't out already.
Ta to Zoid for
the change to help and big shout out to
Esso and
Tox and
CC-Red and the others I got to meet on the first night.
Like Phant said, no newbies...
