dEUSA : "the female skin" fanatic 2 comments
Updated by - - Saturday, 14 December 2002

Hi, can you please introduce yourself for those people who don't know who you are?

dEUSA: I'm Sara Fernandes and i'm 18. I live in lisbon the capital of Portugal. Currently, I play on the female team for the clanbase nationcup and i'm part of the portuguese CS clan called W!P (We !nflict Pain).

How long have you been playing Counter-Strike ?

dEUSA: I only started playing 5 months ago.

What inspired you to start playing Counter-Strike ?

dEUSA: My boyfriend. He was always talking about it so i decided to see if the things he said about it where true.

Did you have any experience with online gaming before you started playing CS ?

dEUSA: No. Not a single one.

So what do you think about the Potuguese CS community and how do you think it could be improved ?

dEUSA: The Portuguese CS community is growing, but unfortunatelly some people don't make an efford to improve their quality. There are those o give everything to show they are good at it and there are the other ones who don't, as in everything.

What is your impression concerning the female CS community in Portugal?

dEUSA: As the Portuguese CS community, the female community is growing but unfortunately there are not many girls playing as we wanted to.

What do you think about sponsoring in the Portuguese CS scene?

dEUSA: More and more we are getting known so sponsors are comming in faster than they used to.

How well do you expect Portugal to perform in the Clanbase Nations cup?

dEUSA: Our main purpose is to get known and have lot's of fun. We are not worried if we don't win. Our firts 2 games weren't too famous but we are hopping to improve... :P

Do you consider yourself to be a Pro or Amateur gamer?

dEUSA: Definitely amateur gamer. I only play for 5 months. In no way would i consider myself as a Pro.

Who has been the biggest influence in the CS scene do you think?

dEUSA: All people from somgamed and geekboys have had great influences, but for me it's definitely aNouC. She's the one! :)

Which female CS player do you admire the most and why?

dEUSA: I don't know a pro female girl on cs but i do admire a lot my clan leader. Biny. :) She has influenced me in many ways and it is think to her that i'm on the Portuguese CS female team.

Which male CS player do you admire the most and why?

dEUSA: I believe the best player i know is Christenssen most known as HeatoN, but the one i like the most is my companion tommy just by the way he plays.

At the moment Counter-Strike is without a single doubt the most played mulitplayer game online. How do you think it will evolve in the future ?

dEUSA: Things won't change. CS will grow up faster and you will see it as soon as the next version arrives.

Do you think there is any discrimination towards female gamers?

dEUSA: In the beginnig i noticed that, as i started talking on public servers. Fortunately minds have been changing and nowadays boys seem to understand we do have the same rights they do, when talking about CS.

Do you feel you are treated the same way like any other CS player in your country ?

dEUSA: Today i do feel that, but in the beginning it took a while before being treated as any other CS player.

What do you think the gaming community in general should do to make gaming more appealing to females?

dEUSA: In case of CS you should have some female skins. It would make it more appealing and probably girls would be more interested in it.

As you previously mentioned your boyfriend plays cs. Would you mind if he didnt play cs?

dEUSA: No, I wouldn't mind if he didn't play it. Cs doesn't make a person.

What is your idea of relaxing at home, besides playing CS?

dEUSA: Reading and watching movies.

What does the future have in store for you?

dEUSA: Go to the university, take my phisiotherapy course and built a family.

What is your favourite CS community website ?

dEUSA: Sogamed

Co rules or Max round ?

dEUSA: Max round

CPL or WCG ?

dEUSA: WCG

FF on or FF off ?

dEUSA: ff on

Heaton or Naikon ?

dEUSA: HeatoN

deagle or usp ?

dEUSA: deagle

ak47 or m4a1 ?

dEUSA: ak47

Jennie : from the block 1 comment
Updated by - - Saturday, 07 December 2002

Hi, can you please introduce yourself for those people who don't know who you are?

Jennie: Hi, Im jennie and Im 17 years old. I live in a small town in Sweden with my boyfriend, and still going in school. Playing DoD for fun, and CS with the Swedish female team in CB Nations Cup, but Im a little inactive.

How long have you been playing Counter-Strike ?

Jennie: Since early August 2001, version 1.1

What inspired you to start playing Counter-Strike ?

Jennie: My ex-boyfriend showed me a couple of different games, I tryed them all and I liked CS the most.

Did you have any experience with online gaming before you started playing CS ?

Jennie: Yes, I played Quake3 a while before i started with CS.

So what do you think about the Swedish CS community and how do you think it could be improved ?

Jennie: I think its qiute good, Sweden is one of the best countries in the gamingworld, especially in CS. But one thing is that some people deserv ea chance to be good, but they dont get it. I think we should have more top players if they get a chance.

What is your impression concerning the female CS community in Sweden?

Jennie: I think many swedish girls say that they are playing, but really they dont. There are so many that want to be known, to have attention from all the boys and so on. But of course there are a couple of girls playing a lot, girls I think should have the attention the "not-playing" girls have, the real gaming-girls do so much more they deserve to be known for. But I dont think that will change, 'cause guys are looking at the wrong thing in that case. :o

What do you think about sponsoring in the Swedish CS scene?

Jennie: I think its good, the teams who are good enough, already have sponsors. Those who dont deserve it, dont have sponsors.

How well do you expect Sweden to perform in the Clanbase Nations cup?

Jennie: I think we can easily place top 3, we can become #1 too if we play with the right team. But now we can just wait and see.

Do you consider yourself to be a Pro or Amateur gamer?

Jennie: Absolutly not a progamer. A progamer is someone who earns money for playing.

Who has been the biggest influence in the CS scene do you think?

Jennie: He who created PunkBuster, the first anticheat to HL. And bds for creating Geekboys (Sogamed) wich is a popular gaming community.

Which female CS player do you admire the most and why?

Jennie: Oh i really dont know, I dont think its someone special.

Which male CS player do you admire the most and why?

Jennie: I dont think its someone special either, all people are worth the same.

At the moment Counter-Strike is without a single doubt the most played mulitplayer game online. How do you think it will evolve in the future ?

Jennie: CS came to stay for a long time, and right now there are no other games that could beat CS. Maybe in the future.

Do you think there is any discrimination towards female gamers?

Jennie: Of course there is, and I think it will never go away. But maybe the boys can aceept us a bit more than they do now.

Do you feel you are treated the same way like any other CS player in your country ?

Jennie: Hmm, my experience is that girls need to prove more than the guys to be accepted if they play good. They have to work twice as hard.

What do you think the gaming community in general should do to make gaming more appealing to females?

Jennie: I dont think they should change anything, a girl can be as good as a boy If she want to. Maybe girls have to practise more, but only for that reason noone shall treat girls different. We are made by the same meat and behind a computer, gender dosent matter! Like this Female NC Cup, I think more people like the fact that girls can play against other girls and see who's the best of us. I dont take it as "You girls cant play with the boys so we'll give you your own NC Cup."

What is your idea of relaxing at home, besides playing CS?

Jennie: Hmm, I think its to watch a good movie with my boyfriend and eat popcorn!

What does the future have in store for you?

Jennie: Finishing school, go abroad for a year or two to work, then coming home and start ... not gonna tell you what.

What is your favourite CS community website ?

Jennie: www.sogamed.com / www.esports-united.com

Co rules or Max round ?

Jennie: MR

CPL or WCG ?

Jennie: CPL

FF on or FF off ?

Jennie: FF on

Heaton or Naikon ?

Jennie: Naikon

deagle or usp ?

missgunst : the German Female Captain 1 comment
Updated by - - Saturday, 30 November 2002

Hi, can you please introduce yourself for those people who don't know who you are?

missgunst: my name is kathrin, i'm 17 years old and still going to school. i'm living in germany in a town close to duesseldorf and i'm the leader of the german female team for the clanbase nationscup.

How long have you been playing Counter-Strike ?

missgunst: my first contact with cs was around beta 4, (un)fortunately i tried the q3 test version, and from that day i was lost to q3. been playing it until early summer of this year and finally i came back to cs.

What inspired you to start playing Counter-Strike ?

missgunst: in the very beginning i was just fascinated by the singleplayer mode of halflife so i tried to play some hl dm, later on i also downloaded cs and gave it a try. lately my boyfriend got me into playing cs once more - speccing him quite a lot got me interested in the game and tacs again. anyways i always 'kept an eye' on the cs scene (events such as cpl and wcg) and i've been dealing with many cs girlsclans due to my work for a german 'girls only' website.

Did you have any experience with online gaming before you started playing CS ?

missgunst: see above - hl deathmatch on a 56k modem. *warp ON*

So what do you think about the German CS community and how do you think it could be improved ?

missgunst: it might be improved by giving some people the chance to grow up. - all in all its not as bad as many ppl say it is.

What is your impression concerning the female CS community in Germany ?

missgunst: we have quite alot of girls playing - maybe more than in any other european country. when it comes down to skills, there is a huge gap between the best and the worst player. i personally think it is pretty sad to see quite alot of girls 'playing games' just for the attention. still there are many girls that play for fun - and are really good at it.

What do you think about sponsoring in the German CS scene ?

missgunst: you won't find any other country in this world where you have better opportunities to get a good sponsorship for your clan - as long as you got a working team that's good enough and a good organisation. compared to eg. scandinavia, german clans have better sponsors.

How well do you expect Germany to perform in the Clanbase Nations cup ?

missgunst: well, i expect them to pass the group matches unbeaten and to do pretty well in the playoffs, too. they got a really nice team.

Do you consider yourself to be a Pro or Amateur gamer ?

missgunst: if i was a pro gamer, i'd play alot more than i do and i would be able to make a living of my playing. so i'll stick with the amateur.

Who has been the biggest influence in the CS scene do you think ?

missgunst: you cannot say it's a single person, it's more whole projects that gave some few ppl a big influence. see cpl, sogamed, wcg.

Which female CS player do you admire the most and why ?

missgunst: it's hard to pick a single player here. i really admire my girls for their discipline - and all the time they took to prepare for the nationscup matches. if i had to name a player i'd say team swedens queen since she's prolly the best female player around.

Which male CS player do you admire the most and why ?

missgunst: fu*b0b. no need to explain why. ;o)

At the moment Counter-Strike is without a single doubt the most played mulitplayer game online. How do you think it will evolve in the future ?

missgunst: guess cs will be on top for some more time - there's no game in sight that might take over its superior position, is there?

Do you think there is any discrimination towards female gamers ?

missgunst: sometimes, but especially the girls who complain about discriminations are the ones who trigger it the most by their actions. nuff said. ;o)

Do you feel you are treated the same way like any other CS player in your country ?

missgunst: i'm treated in the same way as any other known cs player in my country. xcept the fact that they hopefully do not receive mails saying they're cute and stuff.

What do you think the gaming community in general should do to make gaming more appealing to females?

missgunst: there's not much they can do, i still think ppl should start playing cuz they consider it fun. what would you want to change? have pink and purple cs models so little girls like it better? ;o) one thing they should do is get rid of some old prejudices. when you're a girl and suck at playing it is ok, as soon as you're 'too good' you're a fake. girls can play.

As you previously mentioned your boyfriend plays cs. Would you mind if he didnt play cs ?

missgunst: in a positive way. ;o) well i dont mind him playing and i wouldnt mind if he didnt play.

What is your idea of relaxing at home, besides playing CS ?

missgunst: honestly, watching soaps on tv and eating candy. when i want to relax while playing i actually do not play cs but q3 clanarena since cs is way too upsetting in case i die.

What does the future have in store for you ?

missgunst: finishing school, moving out and hopefully in with my boyfriend, starting my studies. wasting less time on irc.

What is your favourite CS community website ?

missgunst: sogamed.com and mymtw.de (best coverage...)

Co rules or Max round ?

missgunst: mr.

CPL or WCG ?

missgunst: neither

FF on or FF off ?

missgunst: FF on.

Heaton or Naikon ?

missgunst: xeqtr.

deagle or usp ?

missgunst: deagle.

ak47 or m4a1 ?

missgunst: m4a1

Bieke : the n1 Belgian lady 17 comments
Updated by - - Saturday, 23 November 2002

Hi, can you please introduce yourself for those people who don't know who you are?

Bieke: Well I'm bieke, 18 years old from Belgium. I play with (#)ArsMoriendi and im also in BadGirlsClan because i support the id of an all girl clan, its more like a community :) I play for the belgian girl team too hope we will get somewhere ;)

How long have you been playing Counter-Strike ?

Bieke: I think i started 2 years ago, but it wasnt really serious .. when i started a girl section in dRc it became more serious and more fun.

What inspired you to start playing Counter-Strike ?

Bieke: My boyfriend , when i was at his home he played often and i went with him to lans .. it was kinda boring to sit there watching him play so i began playin as well :)

Did you have any experience with online gaming before you started playing CS ?

Bieke: No , didnt know there was such thing :)

So what do you think about the Belgian CS community and how do you think it could be improved ?

Bieke: If they would take it serious it would help a lot.. most clans only live for 2 months max.. and when all the "leet" ppl will lower there ego's and give little unknown ppl a chance it would be more nice. Cs isnt that appreciated in belgium like in other countries maybe someday :p

What is your impression concerning the female CS community in Belgium ?

Bieke: Well there are not enough girls in Belgium who play :( we had to search high and low to get us a team for female nations cup.

What do you think about sponsoring in the Belgian CS scene ?

Bieke: Hmm its hard here to find a good sponsor .. for webspace and stuff is it not really a prob, but its really hard to get some sponsored hardware or paying trips to lans ;)

How well do you expect Belgium to perform in the Clanbase Nations cup ?

Bieke: Im not really following the clanbase nations cup for men :) now im focused on the female part. But I think they will do well , like they did at wcg :)

Do you consider yourself to be a Pro or Amateur gamer ?

Bieke: Hmm i have to say amateur then, when a cs guy/girl get money for playing i consider him/her to be a pro gamer. Your no Pro football player when u dont get payed either ;)

Who has been the biggest influence in the CS scene do you think ?

Bieke: Frank of CPL, he made CS to a pro sport
Heaton, people look up to him and wanna be like him ;)
bds, he helped a lot with sites, tips, programs,..
Anouc, she made people appreciate the girls and still works for new projects like nc :)

Which female CS player do you admire the most and why ?

Bieke: Anouc, no doubt in that :) but i think all girls think like this, she does so much for the female gamer :) And my flooo , she is the only belgian female gamer who got in a real good and active girl clan gogo ignore.cs :p

Which male CS player do you admire the most and why ?

Bieke: Well thats still my boyfriend Dr.Bulldog because he was a good belgian cs player i dont think there are guys in belgium who play this smart, i learned a lot of him but not enough ;)

At the moment Counter-Strike is without a single doubt the most played mulitplayer game online. How do you think it will evolve in the future ?

Bieke: Like misshyper and vildkatten said , it will still be played for long time ;)

Do you think there is any discrimination towards female gamers ?

Bieke: Yes there is but its allready much much better. Like now im sitting here doing this iview :) our community is growing and well some guys will never change there mind about us but thats in real life too :/

Do you feel you are treated the same way like any other CS player in your country ?

Bieke: Well yes and no , when i went with my ladies to lans all the cs players give positive reactions, but we get more attention because we r girls but its still new ;)

What do you think the gaming community in general should do to make gaming more appealing to females?

Bieke: They r allready doing it ;) La7 , too bad that there were only 4 clans :( but well its hard for us girls to find sponsors , we dont travel for free. I talked to my boyfriend (headadmin from cpl cs) about cpl why they dont have a female section and he said me the same, there just arent enough girlclans who will show up because we just cant :(

As you previously mentioned your boyfriend plays cs. Would you mind if he didnt play cs ?

Bieke: no i wont mind, its not the cs what attracks me to him :) its just nice we have the same hobby

What is your idea of relaxing at home, besides playing CS ?

Bieke: hmm watch a movie with my boyfriend and talking :) but then i talk about cs and he doenst like it ;)

What does the future have in store for you ?

Bieke: I dont really think of that , im in school now and i will probably go to school some extra years doing publicity or something with computers.

What is your favourite CS community website ?

Bieke: sogamed and challenge-cs :p

Co rules or Max round ?

Bieke: Maxrounds

CPL or WCG ?

Bieke: CPL

FF on or FF off ?

Bieke: FF on

Heaton or Naikon ?

Bieke: Heaton (because he let me play with his pc stuff at La7 :p )

Vildkatten : First female Pro-Gamer 16 comments
Updated by - - Saturday, 16 November 2002

Hi, can you please introduce yourself for those people who don't know who you are?

Hehe ofcourse :) My name is Anja K. M. Im female, 25 years old and live in Århus, DK, with my wonderfull daughter, Nakila :) Im CL/manager/player for Afterlife.dk and have worked/working with/for several arrangements, sites and projects on the CS-scene.

How long have you been playing Counter-Strike ?

Vildkatten: I started in late august 2000 :)

What inspired you to start playing Counter-Strike ?

Vildkatten: My boyfriend at that time played it, so of course i got very curious and had to try it:)

Did you have any experience with online gaming before you started playing CS ?

Vildkatten: Yeah, before I started on Counter-strike, i used to play Age of Kings/conq. online in a danish clan.

So what do you think about the Danish CS community and how do you think it could be improved ?

Vildkatten: Well, I believe the danish CS-scene is just like every CS-scene in the world. We have great people, funny people, we have lamers etc. etc. Dont think the difference is that big :)

What is your impression concerning the female CS community in Denmark ?

Vildkatten: Hmm hard to say. I dont really have anything to do with the other girls on the danish CS-scene. I prefer to play with the guys and have always done that. I think the challenge is much harder among the guys, so its demanded that u practice alot and keep urself in shape. I play CS, to play the game, i think alot of the other girls enjoy the cosy chatting more, but cant say really :P

What do you think about sponsoring in the Danish CS scene ?

Vildkatten: Well more and more sponsors are keeping an eye on the danish CS-scene today, so its starting to become a bit more common to see a clan with sponsors, and it doesnt look like this is the end, so thats awesome ;)

How well do you expect Denmark to perform in the Clanbase Nations cup ?

Vildkatten: We just got the line-up announced, and it doenst look bad at all, so I think they will have a chance to go far ;)

Do you consider yourself to be a Pro or Amateur gamer ?

Vildkatten: Hmm when we played at CPL Berlin, i was actually given the name of first female pro-gamer, so hell ya im pro or...?! ;P

Who has been the biggest influence in the CS scene do you think ?

Vildkatten: The clan doing it best definitely has alot of influence, but also alot of the organizers behind have a powerfull word in this.

Which female CS player do you admire the most and why ?

Vildkatten: Auch dunno :P Dont even know any real female cs-player that well. But as a girl in the scene i would say Anouc! :) We have talked alot and shes damn cool :)) *hugz* to ya Anouc ;)

Which male CS player do you admire the most and why ?

Vildkatten: Ohhh dont know, i have several favourites.

At the moment Counter-Strike is without a single doubt the most played mulitplayer game online. How do you think it will evolve in the future ?

Vildkatten: I think CS will be here a long time, because its such an easy game to right at, also for spectators. But we did see CS catch up on Quake, so at some point CS might be caught up by some new game, though it sure has to be a pretty damn good game to be able to compete with CS ;P

Do you think there is any discrimination towards female gamers ?

Vildkatten:Ofcourse :) "We cant play the game" "We should stay in the kitchen" yadiyadi :P But its getting better though, there is fortunately alot of people who think its damn cool that girls play, and it looks like more and more girls plays nowadays, so it will become a more common sight to see girls on servers. But no matter what u do, there will always be some kind of discrimination in the second u have both sexes together, even if we become more accepted :)

Do you feel you are treated the same way like any other CS player in your country ?

Vildkatten: Again a hard one for me, since i only play with the guys. But i feel i am, the guys in the clan have accepted me as an equal, and yell at me exactly as they would do to some of their other teammates :)

What do you think the gaming community in general should do to make gaming more appealing to females?

Vildkatten: Well I think perhaps many girls dont "dare" to enter this atm. male-area, so make it known that this is a place free for all, no matter age, size or sex. Its just The Game ;)

Are you currently in any relationship ?

Vildkatten: Nope, got no time for a boyfriend, i have my daughter, my school, the clan, and all the projects on the CS-scene, so my schedule is pretty booked ;P

What is your idea of relaxing at home, besides playing CS ?

Vildkatten: Reading books or play with my daughter ;)))

What does the future have in store for you ?

Vildkatten: Well, im done with school this may and had actually planned to start on a new study next august, but as mentioned before i work with alot of projects on the CS-scene, among these is DCSU (Danish Counter-Strike Union) where we are trying to take CS to the next level in becoming even more known and accepted as a sport by the "outside", so we wont just be a "subculture" anymore. It looks quite promising already now, so im counting on success, and guess i will be stuck here for a while ;)

What is your favourite CS community website ?

Vildkatten: Challenge-cs.com ? ;) Well i read alot of sites to get several views on things, so cant say i have just one favourite :)

Co rules or Max round ?

Vildkatten: I like both - though we are used to MR these days :P

CPL or WCG ?

Vildkatten: CPL - havent attended WCG (yet ;P)

FF on or FF off ?

Vildkatten: FF on

Heaton or Naikon ?

Vildkatten: Heaton

deagle or usp ?

Vildkatten: Argg both :D

ak47 or m4a1 ?

Vildkatten: m4a1!!;)

Misshyper : a pro-girl-gamer 10 comments
Updated by - - Sunday, 10 November 2002

Hi, can you please introduce yourself for those people who don't who you are?

Misshyper: Sure;) I`m a girl, 20 years old from Trondheim in Norway, I play in the female team Ignore [#ignore.cs] I`m team captain for the Norway female section of Nations cup 2002/2003.

How long have you been playing Counter-Strike ?

Misshyper: Tried it on a LAN, think it was beta 7.1, didnt start playing online before 1.0 or something

What inspired you to start playing Counter-Strike ?

Misshyper: Well, it was all the yelling boys at the LAN, it seems like they had a lot of fun. And i have always liked computer games, so i tried it (should never have done that, got totaly dependent)

Did you have any experience with online gaming before you started playing CS ?

Misshyper: No, not online.

So what do you think about the Norwegian CS community and how do you think it could be improved ?

Misshyper: Well, to be honest, the norwegian cs community sux. I think the reason is that the middle age is around 13 and ppl's favourit hobby is to talk shit about other gamers.

What is your impression concerning the female CS community in Norway ?

Misshyper: Well, the female cs community in Norway is very small, unfortunately. We are like 6-8 active players, there are probably some unknown female gamers out there but i dont know them. So, since all the girls know eachother, the community is very close. Its difficult to be taken serious by the boys, but we try! And since the Norwegian cs community for females is so small, we are "together with the swedish and the danish girls! Need to share some experience, and try to fix something by ourselves!

What do you think about sponsoring in the (Norwegian) CS scene ?

Misshyper: Its very difficult to get sponsors in Norway. Even if u are good enough to go to CPL, u dont get sponsors Its nice to see that eoL has got some sponsors now, i think they are the only one with "big" sponsors. But, even they havent got any norwegian sponsors (i think). Norwegian companies do not understand how they can get something out of sponsing gamers, in one way I understand them.

How well do you expect (Norway) to perform in the Clanbase Nations cup ?

Misshyper: Well, they havent got the best lineup, unfortunately =( Since the eoL players wont play. But i hope they can manage to get top 5!?

Do you consider yourself to be a Pro or Amateur gamer ?

Misshyper: haha, I'm a pro-girl-gamer ;)

Who has been the biggest influence in the CS scene do you think ?

Misshyper: no doubt, it has to be HeatoN becuz hes such a hero for all the small gamers, if he does something, everybody wants to do the same. Like if he changes resolution, mouse, mousepad or keyboard other ppl will do the same.

Which female CS player do you admire the most and why ?

Misshyper: it must be Anouc, i have never seen her play, but she is very good to organise [thx to my darling for fixing nc for females]

Which male CS player do you admire the most and why ?

Misshyper: auch, difficult question, there are so many skilled and nice boys out there. But it most be ENorM, I guess most of u dont know who it is, but hes the coolest and cutest guy ever! And he owns with scout, its sick!

At the moment Counter-Strike is without a single doubt the most played mulitplayer game online. How do you think it will evolve in the future ?

Misshyper: I think cs still will be one of the most played games in at least one or two years.

Do you think there is any discrimination towards female gamers ?

Misshyper: yes, there is! When we search for pcw, and the boys figure out we are girls they wont play.. "its gonna be so easy etC" they wont even give us a chance =( But we get a lot of attention both good and bad

Do you feel you are treated the same way like any other CS player in your country ?
