Silverbitch Interview

[ Nael | Saturday, 01 September 2001 | 20:37 GMT +8 ]

Continuing on CHMY's twisted focus on the all-girl clan phenomenon, I travel up to Penang and manage to sniff down North Malaysia's only known and spanking new all-girl Counter-strike clan, ch@os|s. The clan currently has six members whose ages range from 17 to 20. Their leader, 18-year old SiLvErBiTcH (also known as Juliana Tan - I remembered to catch her name this time!) very graciously humoured me to a quickie:

1. Hi SilverBitch. Tell us about yourself and your clan.
Well, I was originated from the clan chaos. The leader of the clan Qkumba was the only person that time which had the heart to teach me how to play CS. So when he asked me to help out in the paper works, i agreed. i told him that i wanted to form a clan of my own...an all female girl clan and he agreed. So i found 5 girls which was very interested in playing and i train them to play... Thats bout it.....

2. The other members go by typical handles like Vegas, Apple, Strawberryz, Miki and Cherry. Why your nick?
Well..my favourite colour is silver. I have a bunch of friends callin me silver even b4 i started playing CS, So last time i used the nick silvergal when it was beta 4 i think.. And there wasnt many gals playing at that time. so everytime when i kill someone, they tend to call me a bitch cause i illed them.. so i dicided to use silverbitch so if anyone call me a bitch, ill just pretend that they're just calling my nick..no insults u see?

3. So what's with the '@' and '|' in ch@os|s? Something to look cool or attractive?
Yeah..Its not to look cool or anything..i just feel that it'll look cute..and more attractive,,,yeah!

4. Why would you set up an all-girl clan? Don't like to mix with the boys, or do you feel like you want to make a statement when you become Penang's top clan?
I just wanted to make it a point that girls to can play i guys game..and can also be as good as them..not to say that i'll ever be the top clan..never ever tought bout it..C'mon think bout it..it's a great distraction for guys..hehehe(joking)

5. Does ch@os|s have any sponsors? Will you be joining any tournaments, or are you simply a "fun" clan?
Although ch@os is sponsored, ch@os|s isn't. We will join tournaments only when we are ready..our clan is only like 2 weeks old...

6. Most of CHMY's coverage is focused on the scene in Klang Valley as we feel it is more competitive and exciting. What is the Penang scene like?
Actually, i fell that it is also competitive and exciting in particular places in penang..the problem is that ,,there isnt much tourneys here and there is no proper location where all the good clans go to..they have different places..but so far in Penang..majority would be more focused on One-stop(shopping mall) where there is a lot of CC's there...

7. Boy3 did come down to Subang to play in the Sky Surf tournament, but fared below hyped expectations. However, when a couple of Klang Valley clans like PLAM and NBTD went down to Penang, they were eventually bested by the home NetCity team (which has since been integrated into the FMJ Empire). Then again, Malaysia's current top team, PLAM-V have Keigo and Masaki, the infamous Devil Twins from Donkey Kong, a Penang clan. What are your thoughts on this? How do you feel about clans and the overall level of skill in Penang; are they up to par with the Big Four?
Keigo and Masaki are very good players..I've seen them play B4 and they are good.clans in Penang mostly arent as organised as the clans in Kl but there are exceptional cases. It depends bout the skill part cause some ppl are good for something but not the other..i feel that Kl's stadard for MP5 is way better than Pg..but i feel Peang..is parelel with Kl for usp or rifles..(but most kl ppl..Penang very little)

7. Name the top 3 clans in Penang in order. Also, who would you say is the most famous Penang CS player in general, attributed to skill or notoriety, or both?
For what i feel,Netcity...MYOB...er..dunno liau...cant think..boy3??? Penang player..ermm..ASTALI???

8. Do you think pro-gaming will take off big time in Malaysia? Do you think the CPL's efforts (internationally) will lead to the establishment of an international standard and global direction, or are they making silly mistakes with their choice of maxrounds over CO rules (in CS), and choice of gaming platform (CS over Quake)? Why?
well, pro gaming is making a big take off in penang now,you can see ppl from various ages playing this game..I feel that more would chose CS over quake cause CS is a more realistic game.as well as fun. bout the global thingie...im not sure...i feel it would be a great idea but who knows what other ppl would think bout it..i know parents dont like the game...

9. Why are public servers in Penang run with friendly fire off?
GOod question...cause a lot of beginners tend to kill thier own teamates...and it alwaysget into ppl's nerves,,,at the same time, some ppl enjoy killing thier own teamates so they can get all the frags...so most CC"S use FF off cause they dont want thier customers to run away!!!

10. Do you think, now that more and more female gamers are entering the fray, tournaments should run a different segment for female gamers only, or should everyone be given equal opportunity and treatment?
It would be great to have a different segment for females..at least we can see which female clan is better...but at the same time, everyone should be given an equal thingie...

11. Anything you'd like to add?
Nah!!!!CS rocks!!!
