-Hey girls, ok, first up, tell those reading this, a little about yourself, your life away from Gaming, and where your career in gaming began :)

BgC|aNouC: Hi, my names Ana Oliveras Daví aka aNouC, I’m 23 and I started last year at University. I finished Audiovisual Communications one year ago, and that’s why my work has been as a reporter on a Radio Station, since I was 14. I also love to work in Public Relations, which is something that I can also do online, in the Gaming Scene...
My Gaming career started 5 and a half years ago when I started being organiser in a Quake 1 Clan and with them I learned how to play as well. Since then, I haven’t been able to stop playing / being in contact with the scene, writing, organizing LANs, etc.

BgC|Jade: Hi, my name is Misty Lea aka jade and I'm 26. I do graphic design on the side but mostly I'm a stay at home girl. This is perfect because it allows me a lot of CS time. My man is in the army and is away often, so while he was away last year, an online girlfriend of mine sent me a copy of cs retail. When I first tried it I hated it and couldn’t see on most maps. Then a friend of mine came over and magically turned up my monitor brightness; that opened up a whole new world!
Once I could see on the maps I was hooked. It was a fun escape from real life at first. I never imagined it would turn into an actual lifestyle. I was recruited into a clan only after one month of playing. I had some skill but it was mostly because I was a chick. I stayed with that clan for over a year during which we met up in WV, USA and competed for the CPL auto berth. We placed second. and since then I have competed many times, mostly locally. Oh and a note to valve, since then I’ve bought 2 copies of half-life so don’t hunt me down n kill me please. ;)

BgC|TatiaNa: Hey, I'm 17 years old and go to high school. I'm Russian and have been living in Denmark for 5 years now. Right now, I'm really trying to concentrate on my studies. I spend a lot of time with my friends as well as working in Blockbuster video :) So if you want to see good movies, come to me :D. I’ve been driving go-kart for 4 years, so I love nice cars :) However, I stopped driving before the summer vacation due to lack in time. Now I'm just looking forward to get my driving licence.
My brother, AzR|staLi, has been playing counter-strike for a long time now, so when I saw him play, I wanted to try too. The First time I tried to play cs on a public server, I gave up in the start, got killed all the time :P, but a couple of months later, I tried to play again with some newbies, and then it became fun :). My brother taught me some tactics and told me to aim at the head, and suddenly I started to play good :)

-BadgirlsClan or BGC for those who don't know, is a female multigaming clan spread right across the globe. Could each of you tell me, what your position is in BGC as well as the sort of day-to-day things you get up to within the clan? (Organising / Wararranger / Tactics) etc.

BgC|aNouC: Well, first of all, I created this clan a long time ago, having celebrated our 4 year anniversary in May 2002. I always have a lot to do for the team but I love all them and I enjoy it. I try to manage the Squad leaders and help them with their Squads. I have to check new members, talk with the sponsors. I also prepare members who would like to go to some LANs, and supply them with all the details they need to get into them. And of course, I’m the Webmaster who everyday adds something new to our homepage :D

BgC|Jade: Well, aNouc recruited me off Sogamed.com a few months ago. The US division had just been started, so we didn’t have a full squad; not until lately have we had enough girls to form a team. We have yet to join any US leagues or compete but soon we plan to get together and start taking over the world :). I personally have competed a lot in the past so I know, that, with the skill we have in our division currently, all we need is a few practices and we should be set to start competing. I guess I would be considered the leader of our division, only because of my experience, but in BgC we don’t need titles to work as a team, we have a lot of skilled players that are solid and working towards being the best. This may seem silly to some, but being a girl in the gaming world that is made up of mostly males, we strive to prove girls can own with the best of the boys. ;)

BgC|TatiaNa: Zelena is the squad leader, she's in charge of tactics and stuff, as far as organising is concerned, we all help out with that, however we will be recruiting a dedicated organiser soon :) Basically, everyone has a share of everything; it’s kind of a community in our division :)

 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
-From your point of view, how well has the fairly small, female gaming community been accepted into the community as a whole, for instance, is there still a lot of prejudice and abuse when playing?
BgC|aNouC: I must confess, even if it seems we have it easy as women, it is hard to be a girl and be respected in the gaming world. There has however, been a massive increase in female gamers. For instance, 5 years ago, I was kind of alone as a Girl Gamer but during the last year, a Boom has started, with thousands of female clans popping up everywhere, but unfortunately most are extremely unstable being created and then folding in the same week :(
BgC|TatiaNa: Heh, some people don't even believe that I'm a girl, when I'm playing (except on one of my Bad days, when I’m not playing too well :P). A lot of people (boys) think, that the girls are playing just to get attention and maybe this applies for some girls, but I love gaming and it’s definitely a part of my life now. Boys are just going to have to accept that the girls are taking over :)
BgC|Jade: From what I have experienced, you get one of 3 reactions when you're playing as a female on a public server.
-One: they refuse to believe you're female. I think that’s due to the denial of being owned by girls in a “boys” game.
-Two: they find out you're a female and *flirt flirt flirt* which is fine, as long as it doesn’t interfere with game play after all a little flirting never hurt anyone ;).
-Three: would be that they believe you're a female and then talk down to you by saying we should have something better to do with our time. They then assume we're fat and ugly and spend the whole game talking about us, none of this bothers me though, I’m there to play the game.
I truly don’t care what each individual thinks of me. If I did, omg I would spend way too much time defending myself and not enough time enjoying the game. Partly why I joined BgC was to get equal respect for example; in my old clan I would be put last on the roster because they would automatically assume one of the guys could pull off a better score during a match, solely because I’m female. This is total b.s. to be honest (pardon my French), I don’t think guys are capable of treating chicks as equals in the clan environment. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not some super “chick power” type of girl, I just don’t like being put last because of my gender.
 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

- Seeing as we’re on this subject, what’s the worst incident you have come across yourself of this sexist attitude towards female gamers?

BgC|aNouC: Oh, well the biggest problems come when some people think you are stupid because you haven't answered their query fast enough, and then they start to insult you. Also, I remember a few months ago, when we were very active as Q3 TDM players and there was some crazy dude who started to follow us into all the servers, trying to kick us or insult us, his reasoning?
“Girls Can’t Play, Girls Must Cook!” which to be honest is just pathetic, he was ALWAYS there, and in the end we had to call his ISP, and sent some mails to the police, I mean he even went so far as to flood our ip's if we were on a passworded server :)

BgC|TatiaNa: Well, people are usually nice to me on mIRC. When I'm playing, I'm concentrating on the game, not chatting, but it's funny if people call me cheater and stuff. I just take it as a complement :)

BgC|Jade: Well, I would have to say, it was when I was on a public I had never played on before, the guys not only called me a hacker, but once they found out I was a chick they continued to call me a “fat ugly bitch who needs to get a life.” I’m secure with who I am so this didn’t bother me, but the fact that guys are so quick to be rude and abusive is just plain annoying.

 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
-Yeah *gulp* ok, well moving away from that now, what can we hope to see from each division in the near future, as far as LAN/online tournaments are concerned? Perhaps an appearance at CPL Oslo from one or more of the sections is on the cards?
BgC|aNouC: Well I think it’s 100% definite that some of our Bad Girls will show up at CPL Oslo, for example me :) We sent a team to LAN Arena 7, but to send one to CPL is kind of suicide without having had much training the last months, so at the moment, some girls will show up as spectators.
As for future LANs it depends, I hope that maybe some Female tournaments will appear. I definitely think girls feel more comfortable playing offline with other girls as opposed to guys. BgC.cs.spain, just received a nice offer from a Spanish company, which will help the team, to go to LANs, by paying for travel / entrance fee etc. I think this is fantastic news for them, and I hope we have the same luck with our other squads.
BgC|Jade: Well, as I said earlier, our division has just been started. I hope for online/league competition in the near future however I don’t know about how available our girls are for travelling to competitions. I plan to make it overseas for at least one competition, who knows when that will be. I would never have thought when I started that cs would make me travel like it has. Competing has become a big part of my life now so we'll see what the future holds for the BgC.usa division and me ;)
BgC|TatiaNa: Right now, the Scandinavian division is trying really hard to get as active as possible after a long period of inactivity. At the moment, we are still discussing tactics and training as much as we can. I definitely feel that it's important to have skilled opponents because it's the only way you yourself and your team will get better. As for future LANs, I've never been to a CPL yet, so I am really looking forward to Oslo-LAN, if not as a player, then as a spectator, but I really hope to be competing soon :)
 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

-On the subject of tournaments; in your opinion, what has been the biggest achievement for each of the squads / players?

BgC|aNouC: CPL Cologne(pictures) we made a *last minute* team and we finished 13th. It wasn’t a surprise, seeing as we were nowhere near ready to play against big clans like mTw etc.
At CPL Holland, succubus and me played the Q3 1on1 tournament and she won ;) She is from the American team, and is widely known as the best female 1on1 player.
At LAN Arena 7, in Paris, we played for fun, where we finished 3rd out of 5 female teams competing; no matter the result, it was really fun, and made me be more interested in CS :P
Lady Dana from our Quake Squad, is also one of the best players in Europe, and plays in the Q2 National Swiss Team.

 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
-Who would you say, is the best, all round player, in BgC.cs? And if you could have any player in the world in your squad, male or female who would it be?
BgC|aNouC: I think it is not about being the best, BgC mainly wants girls who really want to play online, talk to other girls, make friends, and be a part of the gaming world. Of course we have many skilled girls in all our squads, but some others are completely new, and the nice thing is to see them improving fast because of being in such close contact with the more experienced players :)
.Sca .Usa and .Spain are the squads which are a little more active right now, and all of them have really talented girls ;D
About favourite players, well I like mTw|cracken’s playing style a lot, perhaps because he is someone who I see more often online and offline than anyone else, but in general the whole mTw squad (ash, koj, hazz and giant) all have what any TOP team needs ;) also, Brb, is definitely my favourite player from .es he rocks :) so maybe him too.
BgC|Jade: All of our girls are awesome and to nominate one for the best player would be insane. I feel skill alone doesn’t stand for much, but when you get a team of skilled players who make a killer team, well that’s where it all matters. In my opinion, I would have a|2.windowlicker as a part of our team. This man is not only skilled; he wastes not one bullet on a wall or box due to his accuracy, which is simply amazing.
BgC|TatiaNa: The best player in BgC.cs? Well, some play better than others, but I don't know who is the actual best and as Jade says, it would be crazy to nominate one for the best player. If I could have any player in the .sca squad? It would have to be a skilled player with good aim, but most importantly a nice personality because that’s what counts, after all there’s nothing with out team spirit :).
 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

-Are any of you friends in real life? And, do your friends from college / school / outside of cs, know about your gaming and if they do what is the general opinion of it?

BgC|aNouC: I'm maybe the member who has met the most girls from our clan and of course I have a nice friendship with all of them, even those I haven’t met yet! I must say though, although each meeting is a lot of fun, I have had a lot of luck when finding members, as I am sure not every Female gamer is as nice as those in BgC. However saying that, none of the members are “close” friends.
My close friends don’t play any kind of game online :( but sometimes that is better, so you can really disconnect from the online stress.
What do they think about it? Well, they respect it and most of the time when they talk to other people and someone talks about Quake or CS or The Internet, they always mention me, so that cant be too bad.

BgC|jade: I haven’t had a chance to meet up with any of the girls yet, but I plan on attending as many LANs in as many different places as possible. So we'll see what the future holds.
My outside of cs friends know about my addiction to the game. At first they teased me about it, then a few of them got into it themselves. I never blow off the chance to go out or chill with my friends for cs, so, as long as I keep that up there is never any trouble between us.

BgC|TatiaNa: Well, I met a girl from BgC.sca once, named GirlPower, but she has quit the clan now. It was a nice evening in Boomtown Internet cafe. I would like to meet all the other girls too, and that's also the reason why I'm looking forward to CPL Oslo. All my friends know that I play a lot, the boys I know joke about it, and can't take me seriously. Whereas girls just can't understand me :). Normally, I try not to talk about my gaming with my “real-life” friends.

 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
-Ok, now onto something completely unrelated, and personal, but anyway, who’s the nicest guy you’ve met online?
BgC|aNouC: Well I don’t know, there are a lot of assholes, but there are also many nice guys who are into the scene :) I don’t want to say names, soo… my ex-boyfriend is the nicest for me.
BgC|Jade: Wow, uhm... /me thinks, I'd have to say my man [PacoM]Noble. What… did u actually expect me to put some random I-net guy? Hehe :p
BgC|TatiaNa: hah :D , I can't answer that question because some people may get hurt :) however forZe|ant1killer deserves a mention :p.
 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````

-Mmmk, before we wrap it up, is there anything you'd like to say to the scores of male readers drooling on their keyboards, reading this?

BgC|aNouC: Guys, really... if you think we are taking over your place... it’s no problem... we can share the kitchen with you, so then we’ll have no more fights Finally, Lots of hugs for my BadGirls, and hi to the rest of the girls in the gaming scene!!

BgC|Jade: We're here for the game play, like most of you. So please try and keep your hormones under wraps and we'll all get along just fine ;) Props to all the boys out there that can handle the fact that we're here to play and we're not going anywhere. To those who think we're out of our league by playing a mans game... kiss it! It’s the 21st century now, get used to us owning you cause that’s not going to change anytime soon.

BgC|TatiaNa: What should we do with all the boys eh? #badgirlsclan :p

 ````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
-lol, k thanks girls, good luck with anything you choose to do in the future whether its inside or outside of the Gaming world :)
BgC|aNouC: Thx Sty, ah, also I want to add... the GoL guys own dancing in a discothèque ;)))
BgC|Jade: np, peace to all!
BgC|TatiaNa: np & thx alot :D cyaa.
