Quake Memories:  Since I didn't play Q2, I can only share some Q1 memories.. and those would be:

All the amazing folks at the two cybercafes I frequented.  I can't say enough wonderful things about the people I had in my life at that time, and I often miss being able to head down for "Quake Night" at the Underground Onramp.  They'd turn the lights down, crank some Nine Inch Nails, and we'd play Quake for hours. It was so popular that there were actual regular *spectators* who would just come to watch us in action!

All the amazing folks at id Software who for some reason were nice enough to invite me to the quakeworld release party. Too bad my mother thought that New York was no place for a teenaged girl. ;)

The silly article in the Wall Street Journal where the reporter interviewed me for 2 hours and came away with a quote that went something like this: "I like Quake, because I can kill people, without, like, really killing them!" :)

Founding PMS with Aurora.  What a great day.  I will never forget it, for reasons that should be obvious.  Banding together with the girls was such a fun experience, even though we most of the clans we played against didn't believe we were women. :)

I have so many other memories.. too many to list.  All the matches played, all the time spent on IRC with my clanmates, all the wonderful friendships started (and sometimes ended) all because of a video game.

Modification Admiration:  No mods, baby. It was all about the deathmatch.

Tournament Attendance:  I played in lots of local tournaments, and in the
AFT.  I never went to any of the big LAN tournaments, because I stopped
playing shortly after the AFT.
