Medusa

Old Quake saying: "There are a lot of things scarier than you, and I'm one of them" and "Don't torture yourself, that's my job!"

Nick Name: Medusa
Previous Nick: PMS-Medusa
Location: Nashville, TN
Birthday: December 17

Current Games Focused: Q3, DAoC, recovering EQ addict
Favorite Games of all time: Quake, of course - EverQuest (which stoled me away from the bosom of my gal gamer community)

Current Clan Status:  None
Former Clans:
PMS, and honorary clan 7
Chat Hangouts:  Recovering IRC addict, ICQ 961975 (although I rarely turn it on any more unless a meeting is pre-arranged)

Quake Memories:  For the sake of brevity, it's easier to say what I "don't" remember about old Quake I and Quake II days. I don't remember a finer time for gaming. A time of gamer unity emerging, guys and dolls fragging side by side and learning to share cyber space equally. A time of sisterhood, my wonderful, strong, wise fellow female clan mates of PMS, and clans that befriended us chatting and fragging side by side. IRC became a way of life. (eeek) I have laughed until I cried many late nights with my gal gamers friends voice chatting in iParty. Not a week goes by without something recalling one of my online friends, male and female, and the fun times we shared.

I met my dearest female friend while playing Quake. Coronita (the multi clanned) and I met during a all female competition online and developed a friendship that transcended the limitations of cyber space. Over the years others have came and gone in both our lives (real and otherwise) but we remain close friends. Secrets, fears, tears, and laughs - we've shared them all and more.

Quake has been good to me. It changed my point of view on what I "could do" and what I "should do". I met wonderful, brave, strong women and men, who knew how to throw down and have a good time, and more importantly - to get over themselves. Quake made me a teacher and a student. Quake awakened a creative side of me and players I met helped fan the flame. Sounds corny, I guess. Everything I needed to "keep" relearning about life, I learned from Quake.

Ah, those were the days. Unity, understanding, and unbridled chaos. As my clan leader, Aurora, of PMS put it so aptly - "Under every floral print dress lies a lady wearing black garters… carrying a big f'ing gun!".

Modification Admiration: CTF and a distant second RA

Tournament Attendance: The all female tourney held on Mplayer by Takisis (sp) and her husband was the first I recall. Since then several LAN party tourneys for fun.
