Slowdive

Old Quake saying: "I've got cat-like reflexes!"

Nick Name: Slowdive
Previous Nick:  Ah yes... the plethora of nicknames that came and went may be too many to mention, but to say the least, and unfortunately so, I did have a few of the 'girl' names that seemed to fill the stereotype (i.e. female gamer with gender specific name that also denotes how cool she is) - but I think I was only fooling myself... how naive I can be as a girl at the top of the score chart (like that's supposed to mean something, right? ;-P). I went with the name 'Slowdive' when I joined Clan QGirlZ - but that name soon was put to sleep after I became inactive in the clan (besides, who wants to mix melancholy with grizzly-looking men holding rocket launchers? not I). Now I frequent various servers (when in the mood) by the name 'Undone' - simple, yet complex... if I do say so myself.

Location: Good ole' US of A. Somewhere abouts in Illinois.
Birthday: April 5

Current Games Focused:  I like DOD, DMC, and Q3 (which is usually tournament). Eagerly anticipating upgrading my machine so I can Doom 3 it (also a few others that my old rusty computer can't handle at this time).
Favorite Games of all time: Quake (1)

Current Clan Status: None
Former Clans:
There's been a slew - but the QGirlZ clan was the most prominent and 'serious' clan I've been in.
Chat Hangouts:  ICQ 13080548

Quake Memories:  Too many to share, but to sum up memories of the 5+ years I've been playing FPS online; I experienced a dueling brotherhood of Polish madness (complete with random-meaning, fragmented sentences that put a smile on your face to Polish swears intermixed with talk of Kielbasas), a
middle-aged single man that rarely ever spoke but managed to have a
huge fanbase (which included his younger brother from across the country), meeting a bunch of university cheeseheads that squeeled like girls in a
dark room, the founded kinship between other girls that like games (hey, it matters, ok?!), and the other quirky friendships that developed because  of this silly game.

Modification Admiration:  Q1 FFA has always been where my heart is and where I dwelled, so to say, for about two years of my life. Eventually I tried CTF (and played it whenever I felt like being annonymously devious, but not very often was that), and of course Team Fortress (thanks to Calvin-0 for showing me how uncoordinated I really am). I think my favorite Q1 mod, though, would be a toss up between tournament and/or team-based though, which basically just depends on my mood - they're both equally good in their own special way.

Tournament Attendance:  Yes, but what a sad sad story it is - but an all inclusive fun one at that! Girls unite to show off their rocket launching fury... in a dainty, flowery kind of way. Our team consisted of: Jad3 (who was hardly ever there?), Tigerlily (who was probably one of the coolest female quakers I've met - reserved, yet off the wall in a mysterious kind of way), Artemis (who put a lot of soul and character into her game), and myself with
Princess and Shakes filling in with their high speed connections every now and then. The series of tournaments were known as NAQL (North American Quake League) and it was supposed to be for dial-up connections, however, only me and Jade were on dial-up; the rest of them just altered their connections and since we were girls, I guess it was OK and acceptable. We ended up taking last place or second to last place (one of the two I can't remember). In our unorganized, clever scheme to win - we managed to have a stupendously zany-good time as we managed to continually shoot our own teammates and get killed over and over again! But hey, we were just girls having fun, don't blame us! -we should have just stuck with the late night scantily clad pillow fights.
